😭😭😭😭 baby fell out the pack n play...

This morning me and my husband were talking about how to do our best to keep him safe in the pack and play because he's using the side to stand himself up. And here I go going to get water and leaving him sitting up in the pack and play thinking that I could get back to him fast enough as he tries to stand in his stuff up. And nope, I heard a loud thud and hes on the ground. I'm in shambles. My brain is all over the place. He's fine acting like himself . if there is anyone out there who has gone through similar circumstances, like what did you do to ensure that your baby was okay and that you don't get too beside yourself?

It’s just a mom thing I think. I’m a first responder and respond to pts in the same scenario. I know exactly what to look out for but there’s no getting rid of that feeling.

How old is your baby?

My 1 question is how? They're 6m or 7m now most can't even crawl yet or walk

I'm also curious as to how, if they're only 6-7 months? Is the pack and play bottom all the way to the ground or do you have it in bassinet mode?

Girl my baby literally fell off the bed 2 days ago. I’m a ftm so i was terrified especially because my back was turned so i didn’t see how she fell but just to be safe we took her to the ER but dr said it happens so so often and that the chances of any brain injury was very very low especially if baby is behaving and eating normally. Don’t be too hard on yourself just take this as a learning lesson and be more alert with baby 🫶🏽

@Victoria Aguilar my oldest was standing up using push walking toys at 5m and walking unassisted by 8.5. some babies are just built different

@Kamari 💛 not all and that's surely not a normal thing they shouldn't be able to walk or anything at 5 months their hips and knees aren't ready for that could cause damage to their legs etc walking isn't normally till 8/9 even 10/11 our babies aren't anywhere close to that the most they should be able to do is crawl and roll over

@Victoria Aguilar she’s definitely running her own little race. Shes always been super curious and has never been a slow, chill baby even at 20m.

He just turned 6 months, yes he was sitting up when i sat im in there. Its the setting before you place the mat down in the bottom.

I would probably put the mat all the way at the bottom if he has fallen out twice.

Its only been once out the pack n play. Hes been having this need to stand more since he turned 4 months with assistance.

I mean, I would still put it down since he's fallen out of it. Even once, it's more than likely to happen again if he's able to pull up like that.

@Victoria Aguilar All of my kids crawled at 4-5 months… my girls both tried standing up on their own at 6 months, my youngest is currently in the stage where she gets mad if I don’t let her stand up lol

@Victoria Aguilar It’s not *common*, you mean. And while it’s not common, some babies develop these skills faster than others. My first daughter started walking at 8 months, I didn’t force her to stand or walk. Didn’t give her a walker to use either, she started doing it herself. I actually attempted to keep her from doing so because I was worried she’d hurt her legs but she continued to do it and now she’s about to be 5 and is perfectly strong and healthy.
