Are American or European car seats safer? I notice in the US there’s an added safety chest clip usually

And while it would take longe to get the child out in an emergency it seems safer I can’t help but think the child always looks like it could fly out through the middle or hurt their back in seats without the chest clip

Different countries. Different regulations and standards.

The chest clip is just to help with positioning of the straps. The safest car seat is the one that is tightened properly

@Sam I know, and they both meet rigorous testing standards in their perspective countries but realistically one is likely safer than the other so I’m just throwing the question out there to see what people think

They cannot be compared. The chest clip is a precrash positioner. That is all.

Also. Fun fact. The chest clip is not actually part of the “safety standard” in the US. In that car seats are not required to have them to meet federal safety standards. They’ve been culturally accepted.

OP is being messy.

@Selena girl please. how am I being messy it’s just a question I didn’t even think it was controversial. I genuinely have a recurring intrusive thought and fear of being in a crash where I won’t be able to get my kids out fast enough because I have multiple ones in car seats with the chest clip
