I work as a dental nurse, this is baby #2. I worked 4days a week after baby #1, and now Im on mat leave, looking to go back in January. I submitted a flex work request last month and had a meeting yesterday to discuss the outcome: I had proposed dropping down to 2 days, which just got rejected, with no opportunity...
I need to work to pay my bills, but I don’t want to leave my babies. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hey girls! Just wondering if anyone knows roughly what the mat pay is like as an NHS worker. I’m under the impression you get NHS mat pay on top of SMP, is this correct or am I just getting confused with it all? 😂🙈 If anyone has any information that would be fantastic!
My partner & I have come to the decision that I will not be returning to work after maternity leave so I can solely look after our little one. My partner will financially cover everything which isn’t an issue for us but I’m wondering if there’s anything any other stay at home mums do as a kind of side hustle? I’m go...
I moved from out of state the first week of August, applied for Medi-Cal and got approved a few weeks ago. I had to call and get someone on the phone to choose a plan bc they insist on sending EVERYTHING via snail mail. Well I have finally been approved for Blue Shield and it goes into effect November the 1st. My pr...
Has anyone got any advice? I have been waiting for an answer for 2 months. I’ve been awarded the minimum amount £27/week 😵💫 but hoping now that I’ve paid my Nat insurance it will increase. Can’t seem to get through to anyone on the dwp line and it’s really stressing me out.
I currently work shifts which means working every other weekend, at the moment it works great for us as our childcare fees are more than half the cost I don't want to be working shifts when she starts school next year, but I change jobs now (days roles are quite rare) it would be a drop in salary and obviously a fu...
Is it poss to apply for universal credit while on mat leave. I know once I go down to half pay I will struggle and wanted to see if I can claim some sort of benefits to help top me up.
So this morning I had a normal midwife appointment it’s about 45 minutes and I come back to work right after. I typically like to grab lunch across the road and then eat in the office. My boss has moaned at me saying if I’m going to take time out of work for appointments I need to bring lunch to work and eat while ...
If I was to inform my employer that I will not be returning to work when my maternity leave ends will they stop paying me my maternity pay immediately? Or will I be entitled the full amount? I have no idea how it all works to be honest. They have also said I have accumulated holidays, can I take this holiday pay now...
Does anyone know if you can claim anything more than maternity allowance and child benefit? For reference I am claiming self employed maternity allowance, my partner is working but we aren’t married and he isn’t down on the maternity allowance paperwork so I’m guessing it wouldn’t be affected by him working. Compa...
For those of you who work from home while caring for your baby, does that even work?? I want to start working from home aswell but it just seem so impossible with my 7month old, how are y’all doing that?

I have a job (retail) that requires me to stand almost all day and I can do admin work sometimes but most of the time they MAKE me stand and go help but I get bad back pain after a day of work! Anyone ever had this kind of situation or any advice for me?
Has anyone used money savings app if so what is best and why? I just downloaded plum and put in all my details. It said I could afford for them to take out £12 which is fine but I was hoping to create different saving accounts in the app for example holiday savings/ house savings etc. is this possible? Hi ladies! I would love your input on something I’m working on! I have a small stationery business and am in the process of creating a detailed planner for working moms. While I know what I need in a planner as a WFHM, I want to see what other mommas need and are looking for. If you are a working mom, love bei...
They make us wait 45 minutes in a boring, quiet, empty waiting room (for a 5 minute appt). Most pregnant women they see already have a toddler with them. If they’re gonna make us wait an hour in a waiting room, they could at least provide a little play area. 😩 Rant over
To go off on mat leave?
Hey mums, is there anyone else who had to apply for maternity allowance due to not working? If so would love some understanding on how things work! I got approved and will get my first payment on the 13th which will be £446 but I’m very confused as it is quit low and I know they base it off previous jobs you’ve had....
Sorry I know this may come across as a little tone deaf when there are people in worse situations but I need the advice. I am a single mum to a toddler and recently got allocated a council flat. I work full time but after rent/bills and nursery my salary is just not stretching enough for me to furnish and get the ...
