Can you have Sex after losing mucus plug?

Hey girls just need some advice, im 40 weeks today and still no baby, had sex on Tuesday to speed up the process and also midwife tried to attempt a sweep but my cervix was closed she tried to a mini one at the entrance of my cervix instead. when i went home that day i lost some mucus plug and twice more the next day so think the mini attemp of sweep may have done somthing. Baby is due today but still nothing, what i want to know is if you can have sex after losing your mucus plug or should this be avoided due to infection, I really dont want to get an infection/ bacterial down below, not sure if your prone to infections after losing your mucus plug but really want to speed up this process.
