Emory Decatur or Northside Hospital L&D experiences?

Depending on when baby comes, I’ll either be delivering at Emory Decatur Hospital or Northside Hospital. Anyone delivered at either hospital and wouldn’t mind sharing their experience? Is one better than the other for L&D?

I gave birth at Northside Atlanta hospital and it was best experience. The nurses was so attentive and the doctor was nice and didn’t rush me or anything. I fell during my pregnancy was there for a week and they change my diet plan to make sure I got the right food and everything. The best care!

Definitely northside i had a miscarriage at decatur and they treated me like shit

Delivered 3x a Northside and all 3x were Amazing.

North side..I delivered at decatur and their postpartum floor was trash. I asked if I could leave the next day after having my baby.

I delivered at Emory Decatur because that’s where my midwives were stationed. Loved it! My son was 8lbs and delivered vaginal. I hear bad stories from Northside. If your baby is gonna be 8lbs they’ll tell you a c-section is needed.

@Antoinette really!? My son was 8lbs and 13oz I didn’t have a c-section or they didn’t tell me or pushed me into getting one

I literally just gave birth to my baby girl on the 26th at Emory Decatur Location and when I tell you I had such an amazing experience with this being my first baby. They actually respected my birth plan, I did everything naturally so no epidural and they allowed me to labor the way I wanted I was allowed to move around and walk. The allowed me to watch my birth with a mirror and I was able to record my birth. Every thing went smoothly and I would definitely have a baby there again 🖤

@Holli yeah that’s what they told me 🤷🏾‍♀️ Most of my friends have boys and they were told they had to have csections. One of my friends hated how she was treated during prenatal visits. Most ppl just go to northside just because. They’re not a Baby Friendly certified hospital but Emory is. So if breastfeeding is important, that’s something to consider

@Antoinette oh wow! I had my son and best experience! My doctors office is apart of the hospital as well. I had a great experience even after giving birth Postpartum care was A1. I guess each person has their own experience.

@Holli true, every pregnancy is different so we’ll all have different experiences. I’m glad you had a great one

I went to Emory Decatur for bleeding with no pain. It was my first pregnancy i was throwing up i was in so much pain nurses did not help weren’t attentive at all they didn’t even offer me pain meds. I had my first daughter at Emory midtown her security bracelet went missing and they found it in another room with another mother and her baby and they were panicking asking me where my baby was on the speaker because the alarm was going off that was sketchy to me after that i was done with Emory. Everyone experience is different but i wouldn’t advise anyone to give birth at Emory. If you’ve ever gave birth at Northside you’ll just understand they saved both of my babies they don’t panic they handle emergency situations very well. Most ppl go to Northside because Dr.Jackie Delivers there so thats just where all the celebrities go but honestly its not about all that the care is just so much better.

@Jasmine I’m sorry you had to go thru that. I know how it feels and how traumatic that is. I went thru a similar experience at another hospital and it was the worst thing I’ve ever been thru.

I gave birth at Northside…an absolute great experience. Zero complaints

@Emoni OMG! Who was your doctor? How was your postpartum experience?

@Kailen Chaketa Williams. All went so so well

I gave birth at Emory Decatur last year. Ummm I give it like a 6/10 I kept telling them I felt like I had to push after I got my epidural at 7cm and they kept pushing it off. Well 30 min later after I kept calling the nurse she finally decided to check me and I was at 10cm that fast. & After I had my baby they kept trying to rush me to get up n stuff so I could hurry to postpartum room n my legs were literally numb affff. They only lady I really liked the whole time was the lactation nurse lol

I had my last baby at Emory decatur. It was a great experience. I was a little on the fence moving from Piedmont rockfall but I’m sooooo glad I did.

I had my baby 12/28/22 at Northside. I had a positive experience there.

These comments were so helpful. Just signed up for OB prenatal care with Emory Dunwoody because Emory decatur doesn’t take Medicaid but I know Emory Dunwoody OBs deliver at Northside.
