Queen’s Hospital Romford

Hey ladies 😊 I’m due to give birth any day now and was just wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with the Queens Hospital maternity department - more specifically the birthing centre as I’ve heard some stories about it being closed and I had my heart set on using the birthing pool.

I had my little boy in February and I was on the labour ward for 4 days! Every midwife I had was absolutely lovely! They treated me very well I could fault them! X x

*couldn’t

Birthing area for me was taken. It was like a first come first serve sort of thing. But the maternity staff was so lovely x

Maternity dept is great.. felt well looked after during labour and delivery.. don’t know about birthing centre status currently

I’m there at the moment with pre eclampsia. Could be induced soon. And tbh they literally cannot do enough for me. They’re so lovely and caring. Good luck 🥰

I was there last Thursday after having a c section with my first baby and I couldn’t fault the team! They were great! Xx

The birthing centre was closed when I went in last May due to lack of staff. They said to me if when you call the triage dept when you go into labour and say you strongly want to use the pool they might be able to sort one for me in the labour ward. I ended up being induced so didn’t try that but worth a go!

Hey I don't know if this is any helpful but when I but when I had my twins I had them at queens and to prefer I can't fault them at all they were brilliant with my twins and I hope you have the same experience x

Hey I’ve had all three of my boys at queens and Maternity dept was amazing ❤️

Thank you all so much! Really assuring to hear some positive experiences as I’ve heard a fair few horror stories which made me anxious. It seems the birthing centre may be based on my luck on the day if it’s open/ has capacity but will give triage a call to check. Just counting down the days now 🥰

Perfect couldn’t fault them

Literally in here now. Gave birth this morning a month early! I could not have asked for a better team every unit I went to! I wanted a birthing pool but couldn’t have it unfortunately. Also the workers looking after my baby are amazing. She’s currently in NICU

@Vicky hope your little one is ok… congratulations too! My little girl ended up in nicu straight from birth and they were fabulous! Could not fault them at all… and the staff on coral ward where I stayed whilst she was in nicu although to be fair I spent almost every moment with my daughter ! Maternity unit was brilliant too

Ahh wow congrats @Vicky! Hope you and your baby girl get to go home soon 🥰 Just curious was the birthing pool not allowed because baby came early i.e. do they assess your suitability when you get there?

Nah just because I didn’t have time 😂
