What goes in the bottom of a crib

This may be a dumb question but you know how a mattress have a box spring I'm not seeing crib box springs are people putting in double mattress's to make the crib bed sit up higher? With one mattress it sits so low what are people putting beneath the actual bed?

Nothing goes underneath the mattress there is a metal thing you can raise and lower that the mattress sits on. In the first picture it has a bed skirt on it to hide the giant gap between the Mattress and the bottom of the crib

Thank you Brooke first time mom and I was soooo confused lol

@Brooke are all cribs made with this component?

Yes they are. I’ve also seen where cribs have a solid like piece of wood that either sits on the spring or it’s it’s own thing. So no matter what crib or toddler bed you but it’ll have some sort of bottom to it that you won’t need a box spring. A lot of beds now days don’t need a box spring. Lots of beds are made with different slats to just hold a bed unless you specifically buy one that needs a box spring. But for cribs and toddler beds you definitely won’t need one

We didn't put anything beneath the mattress but the crib also adjusts to different heights so you can lower the mattress as baby grows and eventually can stand. We have it at the highest setting right now.

Thank you

Nothing goes under. The first image its a skirt which I also bought for our crib . And just a good mattress

@Nicole we got the NESTIG mini crib- to toddler bed and it comes with a solid board instead of the spring board that is height adjustable.

You adjust the height for the crib.

@Ana I’m so excited for the nestig too! Is the height a little different than you expected as well?

@Nicole ive seen a couple that just have flat boards of wood that have been recalled because theyre actually a huge hazard for mould because there's no ventilation to prevent moisture. You want something like this picture or at least wooden slats so air can circulate.

My crib set has a bed skirt.. so that’s what I’m the bottom of ours currently

Technically, you aren’t supposed to stack mattresses or anything like that but I’ve HEARD pediatricians telling moms it’s okay to do IF the mattress is an extremely tight fit. Not all cribs adjust and even then; some can’t reach their baby in the crib even with it lifted the whole way (I’m 5’1” and I STRUGGLED). I honestly got a step stool for beside her crib. May seem dumb but it worked for this short mama 🤷🏼‍♀️ so I never did the double mattress because even though my mattress was super snug; I didn’t feel safe stacking mattresses.

@Alex I’m 4’9 and bought a nice step stool as well! Lol

@P'Jay it’s honestly a lot nicer on your arms and back in my opinion; even if you don’t “need” it. Also, I have a bigger chest and once they started producing; it was SO painful to reach over that side. Step stool was a HUGE help! My kids now almost 4 and we use the exact same stool as her Helper Stool for when we bake or cook 🥰

@P'Jay it’s still in boxes husband came down with a cold that turned into a sinus infection, and I caught his cold so we’re waiting till we get better to set it up. I’ll give you an update when we get it set up! 😄

The base moves from crib to cot and if the bub has reflux you can get wedges to put under the mattress
