Inconclusive NIPT Test

Has anyone had an inconclusive NIPT test and everything turned out fine? I had my blood drawn April 1st for the Maternit21 test which checks for chromosomal abnormalities and would tell us the sex of our baby. I have been anxiously awaiting the results and got a call from my doctor today saying that the results are inconclusive and I’d have to get my blood drawn again. The doctor told me that an inconclusive test doesn’t mean higher risks but I googled it and it can mean other issues. I’ll likely have to wait another 10 or so days for results after I get my blood drawn again on Thursday. I am just sitting here anxious and crying because I was hoping this week I’d be reassured with low risk test results and have to be on edge for almost another 2 weeks.

My ob said that it was most likely to get a inconclusive before 15 weeks and that it was best to wait until 15 weeks to do the labs

But I seen people doing it earlier so I have no idea ☹️ I am sure that you are fine!! I am super anxious about it too, just try to breath..

My doctor told me if you get an inconclusive result it means the baby's DNA hasn't mixed in your blood yet, so don't worry and don't stress, just go in for another blood draw. It only means the initial blood draw was too early on. Don't stress mama we got this!

Pretty sure that just means there wasn’t enough of baby DNA mixed with your blood yet. My dr. Told me you can get blood drawn at 10 weeks but they recommend waiting until 12 weeks so your more likely to have baby’s blood mixed. They mentioned if bot i would need to have my blood redrawn

I wouldn’t stress. There are different companies that create these NIPT tests. Some allow you to even get it done at nine weeks. There are so many issues with labs. It could just be a simple error on behalf of the lab tech. Sometimes they don’t draw enough blood into the vile, maybe they didn’t label the tube right. It could be a whole bunch of stuff. Try your best not to stress I know that it’s hard but honestly it could be a lab error more than anything.

It could of been your blood had been left out too long and it lead to inconclusive. I've had it with different tests but not my nipts. I've heard the lab leaving it out too long/ not storing it correctly is pretty common. A lot of the time its the lab messing something up and they just dont admit to it. Try not to stress 😊

I had inconclusive and had it drawn at 10 weeks, my dr wanted to jump right into a CVS placenta sample and a NT Ultrasound but I want a redraw before something so invasive! Ughhhh

Our doctor recommended to wait until 12 weeks

There is 6 reasons you get a inconclusive test. You don't have enough fetal fraction in the blood due to it being too soon, bad blood draw/ sampling area. Weight can be a factor as well in low fetal fraction. It doesn't have to be a abnormality issue. Just retake the test 🥰🥰 wish you luck
