Follicle size for trigger

I had 3 at 15mm and the others were 8mm. Scopist nurse said they want them to reach to 10mm before doing trigger shot and I know I had a few at 8mm 3 days before my egg retrieval. I had 12 follicles and 9 contained eggs if that helps

Went in this morning and I have one at 15, one at 14 and a lot of others between 10-12. But I’m technically not expected to trigger until Sunday. Though I also haven’t gotten a call back from my clinic yet from this mornings scan to see if timing is going to change.

I personally don’t know what size they really want them I know from my appointments they wanted mine at 10mm or over to be able to trigger and she said that any ones that were 8-9mm they would catch up in the time of my egg collection. I was told the trigger shot was to stop me ovulating the eggs so they could collect them rather than loose them. But that’s what a I can remember

@Zara the trigger shot is what makes you ovulate the eggs that’s why is so carefully timed with your collection so that they’re just about to be released when they go in for collection but haven’t released yet The second shot you start doing at around day 5 is the one to stop you from ovulating :)

@Mel aww sorry yes you are right😔. I had that many injections got so confusing 🤦🏻‍♀️it was the fyremadel that I was told stops you ovulating and your right the shot your told to take exactly 36 hours before egg retrieval appointment is the trigger shot to make you ovulate for egg collection 👍🏼 😁 Apologies @Elise for any confusion. It does get so confusing to be honest I had to write things down with date and time just to get it right 🙈 well I hoped I had. Everyone is different though so I wouldn’t compare my experience to your own or others but yes gives you something to go off but you’ll do great 🤗

@Elise did you get given your trigger shot already prior for when your ready to take it at home. I was given mine at the clinic on the Friday of my last scan and then I did my trigger shot on Saturday evening ready for the collection on Monday. They’ll just want to make sure your 8mm and your 6.5mm get to 10mm or above so that they potentially result into them containing eggs as not all your follicles will contain eggs but just so you have the better chance of them being. Your result is not too dissimilar to mine to be honest. I felt like my right ovary was gonna burst when it got to the Friday as I had more on my right then my left. I was so relieved when she said “yep your ready” 😅. This is the worst part in my opinion very stressful at times but your doing great you got this 🤗

Mine was 22mm today and was told to trigger. Edit: sorry, didn’t realize this was for IVF. We’re doing timed intercourse!
