Stopping breastfeeding cold Turkey / switching to formula

Hello I absolutely HATE breastfeeding, as background my little one is 8.5 months old and has various allergies - gluten, milk, nuts, oats, eggs and many more. I have to eliminate all of these from my diet due to the severity of his reactions. He is able to have soy formula which he refuses due to the taste and hatred of bottles (tried various bottles, warning teat etc and he hates even breast milk in a bottle). Tried sippy, open, 360 cups too with him taking max 60ml. I want to stop breastfeeding desperately as it is taking a huge toll on my mental health. I don’t get to sleep as due to his skin he has to be held to sleep and wakes every 30/45 minutes and I have to go to bed at 6:30 every day like a child and have done for 6 months. I can’t eat, can’t sleep, I have 0 alone time, it’s a luxury to have a shower and I’m constantly panicking if it’s something I ate making him worse and discovering more and more allergens. I’m wanting to know if any mummas out there have quit cold Turkey and continued to offer formula and had any success? I don’t want to jeopardise his health but I’m desperate. He eats 3 solids meals a day, a combination of purée and blw and does pretty well with both. Thankyou, please no negativity. I’m really struggling and just need help or ideas please.

I know exactly how you feel! I was feeling so guilty when i stopped but It was for my mental health!! If you do stop cold turkey your breast can hurt! Do you have a pump? If you do you can pump at least once a day just so your body can know to stop producing milk!& you can pour the breast milk into the formula so he can have a familiar taste, then eventually stop mixing them and give him just the formula! And bottle wise try the lansinoh bottles. It’s supposed to be the best one bc it’s alot like an actual nipple

Feel your pain sounds like you’ve done super well getting this far. Might be worth stopping once the heat wave has passed though as if he’s stubborn you may have worries about him dehydrating which will be equally stressful. But also add in lots of hydrating foods- cucumber, melon, ice lollies etc initially to make sure fluids are going in. But you’ve got to do what helps maintain your health too. He needs a healthy mummy and I can totally understand the stress you’re under so be kind to yourself too.
