Failed sweep - light bleeding

Due date today and had an appointment with my midwife. Offered my first sweep, said yes because want this show on the road! She got to my cervix and said she couldn't perform a sweep as my cervix is closed. Is what it is, cried later etc. But it's now a few hours later and me and my partner had an 'afternoon delight' to try and get things moving and realised afterwards there was a fair bit of blood. Looked at my underwear and there is bloody discharge from before we did the deed. I'm currently waiting for midwife to call back to ask as there is a long wait due to the strikes today so just wanted to see if anyone knew if this normal? Thanks lovelies!

Is it fresh blood? Or brown blood?

Not wanting to sound like a cabbage but probably in the middle, not super bright red, but you can tell it's definitely not brown

Can I ask how far you are to be offered the sweep? X

@Abbi it depends on trust to trust but mine was 40 weeks

Hmm yeah best to be safe. I had this a few weeks ago but was old and they wasn’t worried. It’s if it’s fresh red they tend to be concerned xx

I had a bleed after sweep & then the next day again with plug, it more red than I expected but when i rang PAU they weren't worried as the next day it had some mucus in it & babies moving fine x

@Danielle Thankyou! Hoping they’ll offer / give me one on Tuesday I’ll be 40+1 x
