Confused re milk (heinz baby porridge)

How come babies aren't allowed cows milk until 12 months but heinz baby porridge (6 months+) has milk in it? Also is heinz baby porridge any good?

You are allowed to use cows milk in cooking for babies from 6 months+ ☺️

Can't comment on heinz baby milk, but it's to not offer cows milk as a drink until 12 months, so not to replace breast/formula. You can use it as an ingredient or with other foods e.g. Cereal with cows milk is perfectly fine 😊

Oooooohh ok thank you!!x

The same with plant milks too I think, just not as a drink, but it's fine in cooking/food 🙂

I just bought some today and he loved it but there is a lot of sugar in it 😬 not too sure why though cause sugar isn't on the ingredients list so guessing it's from the fruit bits 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Alex I bought the original one and it says no added sugar but I don't trust it....I don't know why

You can use full fats cows milk in cereal but not allowed skimmed milk until over a year old

Not what you were asking but we just use normal porridge and add fruit (sometimes steamed depending on the fruit). I just find it’s cheaper. I did initially blend the oats but never gave the ground up and just went for normal rolled oats. I just think these baby porridges work out a lot more expensive 🤷‍♀️

I use heinz porridge as a base for adding fresh fruit, carrots, avocado any purée basically. I make and freeze it and thaw the morning of. That way I know whats gone into my baby’s food and its easy to switch up flavours for different breakfasts.
