IVF mama here who was under the care of a home birth midwife the whole time. I was not treated as high risk and went into labor naturally 12 days late🙃 Ended up transferring and having a c section, but that had nothing to do with IVF.
I'm IVF to currently 40w and 2 days , if your low risk they treat you like normal pregnancy, I am booked for induction Friday now as nothing is happening, they normally would do an induction if you wanted one when your over x
I’m IVF, and I’ve been classed as high risk all the way through. Was always told I wouldn’t be allowed to go past 39 weeks due to IVF. Due to more high risks that have occurred throughout, I now have a c section planned for 39 weeks 2 days xxx
Ivf too, been consultant led but for other reasons. Had a call the other day with consultant and no plans to induce me as my pregnancy has been low risk throughout.
I'm ivf low risk and been offered an an induction before my due date. I told the consultant I'd rather book it closer to the time if I feel like it, and she said it was totally my call. I think they just offer it as routine practice. I'll prob just take it if feeling like I'm going to burst! 😄 x
Hey IVF Mama too, I was told that the placenta may not work as well past 40 weeks with IVF babies and so they offer induction or section at that point (Gloucester).
I was with a consultant due to IVF initially and was told I would be induced at 39 weeks. I have other complications now and will deliver at 37 weeks now.
It’s more to do with health & age, they won’t let you go over if over a certain age, but if your pregnancy is non complicated, the method of conception is irrelevant
So interesting how we all appear to be in the same boat but our experiences of what is offered is so different. I'm consultant led purely due to IVF and initially agreed to be induced at 40 weeks but now I'm nearer, I've asked to delay the induction for a few days if, after an added scan, all is still well. I've tried to balance my choices/preferences with the advice of the professionals. It's tricky though - you have to do what's right for you. Everyone is different x
In my area IVF babies are recommended to be induced at 40w as standard. However my consultant is happy to let me go a little longer, as I'm not at high risk of the placenta failing and I'm hoping to go into labor naturally.
I’m IVF and midwife led as well. I had an initial consultant appointment where I was told my pregnancy would be treated no different and no need for induction. However I queried this with the midwife recently and they advised the protocol in my trust is still to offer induction for IVF pregnancies so I had another consultant appointment where I was offered induction at 39-41 weeks with it being my choice. My midwife hasn’t forced me to make a decision when yet and I’ve been booked in for a sweep at 39 weeks to try to kickstart natural labour without the need for induction.
Consultant led due to ivf baby. Also will be induced around 39 weeks as won't let me go past due date.
I'm IVF pregnancy too.. I saw a consultant but just one appointment and then she signed me off. I haven't heard anything that suggests I would be induced and all conversation with my midwife have suggested possibility of going to 42 weeks xx
Thank you everyone his has been really helpful 😊

Hello! IVF pregnancy here too and midwife led care. I am classed as low risk and my due date is 14 Aug. I have been booked in for an induction for 7 Aug but I have a telephone appt with a Dr next week as I’d like to move it and give my body the chance to go into natural labour. If you can purchase it, there is a really interesting section on induction on the positive birth company’s hypnobirthing online course, she speaks a lot about the NICE guidelines and what other options we have if you aren’t keen on induction like me, I’ve found we aren’t always told of other alternatives. Good luck with whatever you decide! 😊
@Nicole thank you I'll have a look at that! I was thinking about doing a hypobirthing course
I’m not but my sister recently was, she was also under the impression that they wouldn’t let her go overdue, but at her consultant appointment she was told it’s fine but wasn’t really given any info. She was midwife led as well! She then spoke to her midwife who clarified things and she was told she’d only be allowed to go 7 days overdue before they’d induce her due to a small risk. She went into labour naturally and had baby at 38+6 x
