Can I refuse induction due to high blood pressure?

37 weeks and 4 days today. I went to the hospital Friday because of a sore throat and found out my blood pressure was 154/90 so they sent me to my local labor and delivery hospital to get a fetal monitor put on and to monitor my bp for a couple hrs. It ended up going down to 124/75 but they said at my next appointment if it is high like that again I will have to be induced.. Can I refuse to get induced next time if they try?

You can but you would be risking your heath and babies health (124/75 is still considered high by my OB)

You can refuse, but there are definite risks to high blood pressure to you and baby. Check it at home, thats your way of knowing what it really is. I mean BP can be high due to stress to. 124/75 is good actually. High during pregnancy is considered 140/90 usually

Not safe to refuse since high BP, can cause complications with you and baby. You can induce naturally in hospital with folley bulb or certain oral meds. Or try inducing at home.

It’s safer for you and baby to be induced if your BP is high 🙏🏼

Thank you ladies! ❤️❤️

I have high bp, but I had it before getting pregnant. I take medication to keep it not too high and I am getting induced Friday. But as you progress in your pregnancy your bp is more likely to go up and it’s best for you and your baby to deliver early. Try taking it at home a few times a day and tell your doctor those numbers. But 124/75 is not bad so if it stays there you could wait longer but you just have to keep monitoring it.

124/75 is not high (for most people). It’s elevated. I would monitor and see how it goes & if it becomes an actual problem post-sickness. I was advised by multiple doctors that anything over 100 for the bottom & 160 for top, and I would go to the hospital asap. I had a scare a couple weeks ago, too. They told me not to even bother going in with 127/94 and only if the bottom goes above 100 or top goes above 160. So you can def refuse, and personally, I would seek a second opinion before opting for an induction with the BP numbers you’ve stated.
