Mateo or Matteo?

I'm Italian and hubby is from Argentina. We want to call our baby Mat(t)eo but can't decide on spelling. Matteo is the Italian way and Mateo Hispanic. We live in US. Thoughts?

Mateo

I’ve worked with kids my entire adult career (20+ years) and every single Hispanic family I’ve had with this name has spelled it Matteo. I honestly thought that was the Hispanic spelling. That being said, is there a family member for either of you that you’d want the spelling to be like? If so, maybe go with that version. Otherwise, see what suits you better. My son is Ashe. Not a nickname, that’s his full name. My husband wanted “Ash” but I thought “Ashe” would maybe clue people in that it’s his full name

Mateo it’s the most common spelling in the US

Mateo

I’d go with the Italian spelling, quite a lot of Argentinians are of Italian descent. My dad is from Argentina 🇦🇷

Mateo sounds and looks 👌🏼

One T!

I like it with 2 t’s

I think Matteo looks better

Also I guess it depends on how you want it pronounced. Ma-teo or Mat-teo

I like how Matteo looks more but I think it’s all personal preference!

Mateo 💕

Matteo looks better 🙌🏾

I have a Mateo

Matteo
