Empty gestational sac?

I found out I’m about “6 weeks” pregnant this week. I had an ultrasound as well as the vaginal ultrasound and they didn’t see anything inside the sac. She told me I could be too early to see and it may be too small. But then I googled it today and it said I could have blighted ovum. Which is basically an early miscarriage. I have to go back in 2 weeks to get another ultrasound but I hate waiting to know. Has this happened to anyone else??

Yep. This happen to me. I had to take medication to help my body pass the sac. It had no effected future pregnancies, I had my son in 2022 and I’m due with my little girl in Nov.

If the sac measures more than 30mm and is empty, it is extremely unlikely to be a viable pregnancy. If it's less than 30mm it's likely too early. Hence the rescan. All is not lost!

Yes, in 2021. I had the medication at 9wks and passed the sac at home. I’m sorry xx

This has happened to me, we went for an early scan and I wasn't as far along as I'd thought, I was 6 weeks 3 days, all we could see was the sac. I spent the next 2 weeks absolutely convinced it was a blighted ovum. Went back for the rescan and the baby was there with a heartbeat. She's now 6 months old ☺️ I really hope it is the same for you 🤞

Was the longest 10 days of my life but my daughter turns 2 on Sunday. Fingers crossed for you. I had no idea how far gone I was as I was on the pill so they were adamant it was a miscarriage. Thankfully it wasn't and I was just too early. Going backwards on dates I was 4+5 when I got scanned. Went back at 6+2 and saw the tiniest little flicker ever. Xx

Ahh! Thank you ladies! Waiting is honestly the hardest part. At least there is some hope. I just wish I knew sooner so I can start the grieving process if necessary. I appreciate every single comment! ❤️❤️

I know it’s really hard, but googling at this point is probably the worst thing you can do as that’s the point of the rescan. My sac was empty, I was a bit less than 6 weeks though. You never know! Keep your chin up 🤍

@Tiffany Pregnancy is all about waiting. Once this worry passes the next one begins. Sending you strength!

The same thing happened to me, at 6 weeks there was nothing but the sac I went back 7+2 and there was a tiny little heart beat 🥰 don't stress until you know for sure.. all the best x

Thanks everyone for the insight! I don’t think they measured my levels yet. The line were really dark on the test though. Not sure if that means something.

Yes. I had a miscarriage July 14 due to a blighted ovum. I had an ultrasound on July 12, there was no baby then two days later…. I was a day away from supposedly being 9 weeks so by that time I knew. Wishing you all the best and I hope it’s just too early for you.

It’s so hard. I’ve had seven miscarriages, none of which was like this but my sister went through it. She rang me one day in tears because they couldn’t find a baby and wanted to give her the medication to bring on a miscarriage. I begged her to wait another week or two, that they might of got her dates wrong and thankfully she listened because my beautiful nephew is 9 now. I hope you get good news too x

Next ultrasound scheduled in 2 weeks. I’ll keep y’all updated. 🥹

I had this too! Longest two weeks of my life but we had a heartbeat when we went back & I’m 34 weeks today❤️

I had this after a bleed at 5.5 weeks, it was the longest wait for the next scan but at 6+6 there was a little beating heart and measurements were exactly as they should! I remember looking at the same things on google keep yourself off it as it only causes more worry! I’m now 13 weeks and everything is still as it should some babies just take longer to start growing or your dates could be slightly out 🩷🩷

I had a blighted ovum my first pregnancy. Now have a healthy baby boy and a second on the way.

It's still so early, go with what they say and not Dr Google, although so much easier said than done! Good luck, I hope you get great news at your next appointment x

Yes. We confirmed atleast a yolk sac in the gestational sac at the first one. I was too early. I went in at around 7 weeks and confirmed a live uterine pregnancy. Waiting was hard, I was so worried.

Hi everyone. Not sure if anyone is still following. Wanted to give you an update. I ended up having a miscarriage. Thank you all for your kind words.

@Tiffany I'm so sorry for your loss x
