Nap time routines

When does your little ones nap? My little ones 17months, only has 1 nap a day. Gets up around 8am, I settle him for a nap around 12 for him to settle somewhere around 12:30 (sometimes earlier, sometimes later, just depends) he usually sleeps for around 1.5-2hrs. I don’t let him sleep past 15:00. He averagely sleeps till 14:00/14:30 on a good nap. I just feel feel like by that time half the day is gone, time he’s up, changed, fed etc that’s an other hour then by the time we’re ready to leave the house it’s like 4oclock and there’s nowhere to do 🤣 I just feel like I’m stuck in the house half the time and there’s nothing and nowhere to go. I’m trying to be more prepared to just up and go soon as he’s up from his nap. I try stick with this routine as close as possible and don’t take him out till after his nap as if he doesn’t sleep that time and sleeps later it will be up all night and settle late to bed and I really need that time to myself but also feel stuck with this routine. 😩

I’m similar! My little guy doesn’t wake up til 8-8:30 and is often ready for a nap around 11 then when he wakes up around 1-1:30, it’s lunch time!

Is that his only nap ? Or will he nap before bedtime? He gets up around 8/830, I purposely nap him 12ish as that’s when he seems he wants to nap, he get up around 130/1400ish then that’ll be him till bed time. If he wakes up around 130/before 2 he will settle around 20:00/20:30 that will be him till morning, if he wakes closer to 14:00 or after he won’t settle till near 9 I’m going to try just be prepared so soon as he wakes up he will get ‘lunch’ then we can try go out for some fresh air or soemthing not that there will be much to do at that point 🙄🤣

Mine naps 12-2/3pm. I either try and go out early at like 9am otherwise like you said the first time we get outside for the day is 4pm. It takes him so long to eat lunch as well

What do you do if you go out early ? I never know what to do or where to go

I’m struggling with that at the moment and running out of things to do. We go soft play, swimming, park. Or run any errands like food shopping, post office etc. But feel like I’m repeating the same few things over and over

My little girl naps from 1:30 till 3:30. I try and go out as soon as we've had breakfast at 9 and be home no later than 1 so we can start wind down time, change her bum etc x

@Gemma I know what you mean, sometimes it feels like that’s too much effort and not worth it to go out before his nap as time you go out and come back and say you have food shopping time you settle him and out everything away etc he’ll be up from his nap 🙄🤣 I went out when he got up from his nap as he was up earlier but wasn’t really beneficial as didn’t get anything I needed; too cold to go to the park so we’ve just went home, preparing dinner and he’s playing with his toys. Might take him to the park before bedtime as I’ll put him in warmer clothes. It’s difficult, there’s now enough hours in the day 🤣 x

@Amy that’s a good nap; I try him slightly earlier so he will go to bed earlier. If we go out later in the day say to my sisters I will always take him food, snacks, pjs so we can stay out a bit longer and get him ready for bed there before going home so less for us to when we get home and he gets longer outside. It’s difficult to find a balance when you’re in a routine like that. Trying to juggle not only the routine but resting, cooking, cleaning, socialising etc x

Try going out before his first nap
