With my first child I had the side down until she could roll at about 4 months then the side went up.
The mattress of the cot should be lower than your mattress, so it would be impossible for baby to roll out or get stuck, as they won’t be able to roll up onto your mattress. If using as a stand alone cot then all the sides should be up
I just feel it would be literally impossible for baby to roll out there’s still a healthy lip on the side to stop that happening especially when very little and can’t even roll over yet !
@Paige just keep it down but make sure it’s pushed closed up to your bed, also once they start sleeping longer stretches you can just use it as a stand alone crib away from your bed
I have the exact same next to me and I plan on using it with the side up! I’m just paranoid that the duvet will flop over to the crib and cover/suffocate him 🙈 I’m probs overthinking but i don’t think having the side up would bother me
My next to me is different but the side comes down too, if I'm sleeping then I plan to have the side up just to be safe but if I'm awake and she's asleep ill keep it down x
@S🌈🐣 Ooo I didn’t realise you can use different sheets, I thought you had to buy the maxi cosi ones as they would be the only ones that fit.. What did you type in to find them? X
I was under the impression that if it is secured under your mattress using the clips and following the instructions surely there isn’t a gap for them to role or move and get stuck? I guess once they start moving a bit more I may consider putting the sides up but like you said they are made for the side to be down. If it wasn’t “safe” they wouldn’t sell them x
@Chloe I ordered off this seller :) https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1027132269/baby-sheet-for-maxi-cosi-iora-iora-air
I don’t have mine fully fully down just enough for it to feel like my little one is close to me but if he was to roll he couldn’t go between his bed and my matress x
Has anyone found a mattress protector for this crib? Thank you x
@S🌈🐣 heya have you found a mattress protector for this crib at all? X
@Freya we found a company called Dudu N Girlie supplied them and the fitted sheets 😊
My antenatal classes stated that the recommendation is the sides should all be up if you're sleeping too, as its common for the baby to roll and become stuck between their mattress and ours. It's safer for baby as technically they're unsupervised. Hope that helps 🥰
