Braxton Hicks Anterior Placenta

Can you guys share your experiences with Braxton hicks? This is my second pregnancy. Both babies I have an anterior placenta so my stomach kinda always feels hard. With my daughter I never noticed a practice contraction if i was having them. Yesterday I was having very subtle labor feelings but honestly I couldn’t tell if it was phantom or not. Could have been Braxton hicks or I could just be getting anxious now that we’re so close to full term (I’m 35 weeks this Wednesday). My midwife said Braxton hicks can feel stronger with every pregnancy and wants me to call her if I notice more than 6 in the hour. Trouble is I honestly cannot tell when I’m having one so would love to hear from you all especially if you also have an anterior placenta :)

I've wondered the same. First pregnancy. Anterior placenta. 35 weeks. I'm definitely getting some pain but it is hard to tell if it's just pelvic pain/stretching or BH

This is my first pregnancy so I don’t really have anything to compare to. But I do have an anterior placenta and I agree my stomach is always a little hard but sometimes it gets like rock hard with zero give and is suuuupppeeerrr uncomfortable, borderline painful. It’s usually the top part of my stomach that hurts and sometimes as I’m trying to change positions it’ll take my breath away (I do have a fairly low pain tolerance to be fair). I’d say mine usually last a minute or so and don’t get more intense or closer together so my doctor has said it sounds like Braxton hicks. I’m not great at describing it but hope that’s helpful a little!

I had to have my husband poke my bump Saturday to make sure I wasn't crazy lol- he confirmed it was rock hard to him and he was shocked! We could feel the difference the next day when it wasn't feeling as hard. I had back pain and my vagina honestly was so sore. I had one yesterday where everything felt tense again, less back pain but it came in a wave. Nothing today, and I should mention this is my first pregnancy, and I also have an anterior placenta.

@Laura thank you for sharing! how often do you experience this and what week did it start?

@Sami I can’t remember when it started, but I’m 35 weeks tomorrow and it’s been happening for a while. I feel like it started very sporadically in the like 20’s weeks. Now it happens most often at night and seems to be triggered by getting up to go to the bathroom, which then makes it hard to go back to sleep. I’ve had a couple times where I’ve gotten period like cramping and sudden, severe lower back pain (not at the same time though) that lasts for a little while and happens like 2-3 times throughout the day, but that doesn’t happen as often as my stomach overall getting really tight. I’ve been monitoring but I’ve never had any of it happen more than a handful of times a day and the intensity/severity hasn’t really increased at all, it’s just always super uncomfortable and sometimes a little painful

So this is my third pregnancy but all my babies were posterior this is my first with anterior. I will say with this one I went into preterm labor but it thankfully was stopped. I noticed hardening of my stomach and severe nausea with pain spells. With posterior I labored in my back with anterior I labor in front and it hurts enough to feel hard to touch but pain like waves.

@NaNi so glad they were able to help and stop it!
