Cramping and Nausea Cervix Check

35+6 and my doctor did a cervix check since I was already undressed for the GBS swab. She said my cervix is closed, but that’s all I got?? I’m a FTM so I’m not sure what to expect from the checks. It’s been a couple hours and now I’m really nauseous and cramping. Is this normal with cervical checks? Should I be concerned? I don’t think it’s contractions because it is continuous cramping feeling for about an hour now. Thanks!

Cramping is normal for most after cervical checks. You're still early, but they will most likely start checking you weekly to check progression

You can also deny these checks if you find them uncomfortable. Everyone dilates differently. You can be 3cm dilated and go past your due date. Or you can not be dilated at all and dilate all in one day going into labor. Personally I don’t think the checks are worth it.

@Cori agreed!!! This is why I decline them. Until there are active signs of labor it’s really pointless.

for the gbs swab is it vaginal and anal or just vaginal? 😭

@Riley it’s both. That part wasn’t bad at all because she just swabbed around vaginally then quickly on the outside of the anus. It was uncomfortable when she checked my cervix though
