Baby choking on breast milk

Hi all, I've always suspected my let down was fast as it sometimes floods out my daughter's mouth but just now she actually choked and I'm pretty sure her lips went blue. It was so scary and I'm nervous to feed now, has anyone had this happen before?

Have you tried changing your feeding position? Like maybe reclining your body backwards so the milk doesn’t come out as forcefully into her mouth?

I've had my daughter choke on breast milk too, I quickly sit her up and blow in her face so she can catch her breath. Maybe express a lil beforehand see if it makes any difference

I've had this happen too! So so scary! We've had it twice in the last couple of days, not sure why it's started all of a sudden but I've been leaning back more when breast is full and so far that seems to be helping... I swear it's knocked years off my life though! Xx

You could try expressing a bit before hand - or pump and bottle feed if you’re nervous x

I’ve stopped breastfeeding now because my little girl inhaled my boob and always makes herself choke and she becomes so fussy on the boob also

@Rebecca I also blow on my babies face she seems to hold her breath at random times for a few seconds

I have a fast let down and mine chokes a lot and had milk go through her nose a few times. I now take her off the breast when I feel that first let down (which is the strongest) coming. Then stop her periodically to let her catch her breath
