I gave birth there in July. It was okay. The delivery part was amazing, the staff were great. But I wasn't keen on the recovery or postnatal ward. You are literally left on your own to do everything and one thing don't forget your nappies or wipes as my partner forgot to bring mine as i was taken in via blue light and the recovery nurse wasn't helpful and said they had no nappies to give to me. Thankfully another lady who gave birth at the sametime gave me some xx
Fantastic for the labour and delivery but I echo Sian about the aftercare being a bit hit and miss! The sheets weren't changed in the 2 nights, so I was left on bloody sheets. But they did help me to establish breast feeding.
I did in May 2022, fantastic hospital with great care. I had a section and received great aftercare too, had the midwives teach me to feed every few hours, evelina staff did her first checks, great view out the window too. My only criticism is the slow lifts.
I did in May 2022. Every thing was great except disappointed with post natal care. I was discharged on day 4, my concern was weight loss of my LG, only to be told by the midwife that babies are weighed on day 5 by the midwife when they do home visit. On Day 5 we were referred back to the hospital as the weight loss was 15%. Could have avoided the whole stress 😩 esp as I had c- section and wasn't lactating as much ( they insisted it will pick up, didn't at all ). And also in the hindsight should have gone to local hospital as I also had to go to Brixton( different council to my residence) to register birth as Tommies is under lambeth and Southwark Council .
I had an elective c section there just over 2 weeks ago and the surgery went well. Post natal care wasn’t great, lack of beds and support tbh. Unprofessional environment. Everyone’s experience is different tho. I just went back this afternoon as my wound isn’t healing as well as it should. The MAU ward is excellent I have to say!
I had my LB there in September - it was fantastic. I was induced so was there close to 5/6 days but every single person we encountered was incredible
I had my first born there and my experience was not good at all. I was induced but nothing happened for like 3 days , despite strong contractions. I asked for a c-section after that as they told me that was one of my options but every 2-3 hours they were sending me doctors asking me why I wanted to do have a C-section and they made me feel really uncomfortable , like I was a bad mum for just asking for it. On day 4 they managed to break my water and after a few hours I started to feel very cold. I told them many times I was freezing and they kept saying it was the epidural, unfortunately it was not and I had an infection, my daughter’s heart rates were really high for so many hours because of my infection and only after 7 hours they decided to go for an emergency c-section! Postnatal care was awful , no help despite the surgery.
Hi I'm due to have a homebirth with them due Jan 29th The midwives have been amazing previous babies delivered in st georges so was super nervous to transfer but so far been such a lovely experience ❤️
@Sian omg do they not provide anything at the hospitals here?
@Bee omg when is your due date?! Actually gonna dm you! lol
@Sophie omg that’s terrible to hear about the after care! Do you know anything about the private rooms?
@Thamina no they don't provide anything. Makesure you bring everything. They will at a push give you some cotton wool balls, but trust me bring your own wipes cos cotton wool balls are useless when your cleaning your baby when they've had an accident x
@Rista oh I’m from a different area too, I didn’t know that you have to go back to a local hospital after? So all of your babies checkups and everything are no longer done at st Thomas?
@Sonia dming you!

@Sara oh no! That sounds terrible! I’m so sorry you had that experience! It must’ve been so scary! It’s difficult to make a decision which hospital would be right because everyone has such different experiences.
@Thamina yes everyone’s experience is different! That was mine but I heard so many other mamas loving it there. So just be positive that whatever will come is meant for you and most important is that you and baby will be fine 💪🏻🥰
I did in March 2022! The labour & delivery team are so lovely x
