Hot Showers Make You Light Headed?

I’m used to taking hot showers but since 35 weeks (now 37), if the water is even remotely warm my heart starts to race and I feel light headed and quickly have to turn the water off, sit on the edge of the tub, and drink water. What is happening?

It may be affecting your blood pressure I would suggest either sitting in the bottom of the tub and letting the water run on you or just taking a warm bath. If you take a bath you can drink water as you relax

It’s happened with me then my Midwife told me while taking bath keep the bathroom door open because the steam makes you suffocate and it works for me . You too try it

Yes im 37 weeks as well and i always took out showers, this is my first pregnancy. But i notice I just started too feel lightheaded after my showers or even sometimes while im still in the shower.

Heat, dehydration, high or low blood pressure and a spike in BPM can all cause light headedness and fainting. Id say drink water before you go into the shower, keep airflow (door open/fan on) and the temp not so hot. Try not to bend if you don’t have to or move to quickly. Also look into POTS which can come on during/after pregnancy. For me I have tested why I have felt this way and check blood pressure, sugar, BPM and keep hydrated so I see what my body does during this change. Always sit down so you don’t faint!!! Bath over shower if you can!

They specifically told me not to take hot showers after my birth for this reason.

Probably blood pressure. My first spike in BP was during a hot shower. You can dizzy if it gets too high or too low. Normally my BP runs low, so when I got out of the shower I checked it, and it was really high. I've been taking shorter, lukewarm showers since then for safety reasons.

I had this first trimester due to naseau and being sensetive already with not physically feeling well enough to stand or walk tbh. Butttt i do get this often when not pregnant and its just the steam and overall heat and not good air flow if cooler air that makes us feel suffocated abd over heated. You mught just have to stick out the last few weeks u have left with cool showers. Not freezing cold but cool enough its more just refreshing and doesnt heat u up like that

Heat will cause your blood vessels to dilate which results in a reduction in your blood pressure. Stay hydrated and lower your water temp :) If you feel dizzy, get down to the ground slowly and let your body recover

Yeah I started to see little lightd when I shower. Open the shower door to help the ventilation.
