Boiled water added to cool boiled water method for bottles

Hi we have the prep machine at home but are going on a long haul flight so my plan is to fill my babies bottles with cool boiled water and then top up them up with boiling water out my flask and add formula. My question is for anyone who does this- could anyone possibly tell me the correct measurements of cool boiled water and boiled water for a 6oz bottle !? I would rather it be a tiny bit too hot and cool down than not be warm enough to sterilise the formula but if anyone could help would be amazing ! Thanks

It only has to be a hot shot of boiled water added to the formula first to kill any bacteria, I normally do 1oz boiled water then top up with cooled boiled water

That’s exactly what i was thinking @Shannon because that’s how the prep machine does it too! So what would be the easiest option for me? I think I was more thinking of ease on a flight. I’d need quick a lot of cool boiled water but maybe I just take two flasks, then fill with the formula, then the boiled water and top up. I can always test on my wrist for temp. If I go with 1oz boiled water that should be fine and similar to prep machine I think x

I would get ready made for the flight , I've been told they won't allow liquid through check I'm xx

You can also order to boots after check in and doesn't class gas taking up any wright in your luggage xx

@Francesca I've done a flight with my girl and I took two flasks of cooled boiled water because you can ask anywhere for boiled water. They do let you through security with flasks full of water for a babies bottle and all the formula powders. They might do extra checks at security so give yourself some extra time

@Kirsty or just order like Kirsty said but my baby hates the ready to use stuff, maybe try before just incase

@Shannon I didn't know this thank you I will probably rake a couple of flasks too then and maybe they would fill them for me xx

I go abroad a week on Sunday n keep thinking I will forget something xx

@Kirsty try to to stress about forgetting anything, remember you can buy most stuff abroad. You're gonna have an amazing time, best age to travel with a baby

@Kirsty little bit of advice, you will get offered priority boarding on the plane, Don't do it! Yeah you get to board first but then I take an hour to board all the other passengers and the flight seems much longer!! Just board like normal trust me xxx

I’ve tested this out with the prep machine for travel purposes too and every hot shot size is different depending on the amount of scoops/oz bottle you’re making. Get a measuring jug or empty bottle and do a hot shot with the prep machine for 6 oz so you know the exact amount x

@Shannon thank you for your advice :-) xx

I have a bottle warmer & gunna buy ready mades as he doesn’t like them cold xx

We have 10kg hand luggage each do we have to pop all baby things we take in her or can we have a extra bag for baby xx Yeah I'm looking forward to it , be my last holiday in couple of years I think , we are saving for house n marriage too n have another baby on the way , crazy I know 😜 xx

This is how we make bottles at home- About 2oz boiled water in the flask, formula then fill to 180ml with the cooled water

You can use tap water from 6m so you don’t need to use cool boiled water just boiled for the hot shot to kill bacteria in the formula. For 8oz bottles I do 80ml boiled water then 160ml tap water.

I would have bought ready made that would have been great but she has special allergy milk now so they don’t do ready made. Thanks for all the suggestions! Definitely will measure hot shot amount for 6oz tonight 😁 thanks for all the help guys feeling better now xxx

Have a look at the Nuby rapid cool it’s brilliant. I take that and also a flask of boiling water and do the hot shot method. (The Nuby you add the hot water and shake and it goes to the perfect temp) xxx
