Well that would be a bonus! 😂 let’s hope it’s still the same 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
I honestly was so out of it and desperate for the room that I don’t even think I would’ve cared if it cost a thousand pounds 😂
@Lucy I’m having a c section and know I’m going to be a nightmare 😂 so might as well plan these things in advance! Xx
Good luck I hope all goes well! The main thing I learnt from labour and giving birth is that no matter how hard you plan, things can always change and I wish now I’d gone into it a bit more open minded and less anal with my laminated birthing plan😂 it’s good to know what you’d like to happen but be open to changes. The team in theatre were amazing at Barnet. And congrats, too ❤️
@Lucy thank you so much! I’m so nervous and I’ve got a week left and this back ache isn’t shifting so it’s all slightly stressful and yes I will try and go with the flow as much as I can!😂 xx
They’re not available at the moment. I asked for one and they said they haven’t being doing that since pre Covid
@Nicola I gave birth in November and they were available again. @Alex Not sure how much they are I’m afraid. When I asked about it, they said I couldn’t stay in one on my first night as I had a c section, and I was then discharged the following day so never found out.
@Sarah really?! I gave birth October, maybe they just couldn’t be bothered with the logistics 😅
** also website says 150 a night for a room with its own bathroom
I gave birth in July and back then they wouldn't offer them. We asked for it a few times and because they knew we really wanted one, I was lucky that they had one available and they gave it to us. They never charged us. However, they had warned us that if I was having a C-section, they wouldn't be able to give a private room as they need to keep a closer eye to you/ make sure someone notifies them if something seems wrong (e.g. other mothers around you). One of the midwives also said they notice that C-section mums feel "better" being around others as well...
PS: the private room we got was a very small room without a private bathroom. I think in total they have very few private rooms (something like 5?) and back then they said they try to keep them for special occasions. For example, I had to get hospitalised a week later for mastitis and they put me and baby back in that same room. They did mention that they offer them to women with infections etc
@Stamatia thank you xxx
@Sarah brilliant thanks Sarah xx
@Stamatia Funny how they say c section mums feel better being around others! I had two c-sections and both times my curtains were shut around me and I was wishing we had our own room!

Maybe out of date info but we were in for a week after the birth of my daughter in March last year. A strange situation with another mother who was very disruptive to the entire bay we were on. The icing on the cake for me was when they appeared to unpack a bag that smelt of stale laundry- it was intoxicating and truly unbearable- and by that time I refused to return to my bed with my baby until they allocated us a room. They had plenty as we walked past and I was able to spend the last night to rest properly before going home. It felt like they didn’t want to give the rooms out because there are only so many but they were all seemingly empty!
@Sarah totally understandable. I went in for an induction and ended up not needing one and waiting for a birthing suite for 4 days literally just sitting around doing nothing. During this time the women in my bay there were very friendly and chatty and straight away said to me oh we don't close our curtains, if you want to join/ jump in in conversations please do, so we had a very social bay and I always thought that's what they meant feeling better with others, but I guess if everyone has their curtains closed it doesn't make a difference if you have your own room or not. Other than the hospital not having enough rooms of course. By the way, if it makes anyone feel any better, I could hear all crying babies from the next rooms/ bays, there was zero sound proofing. And as mentioned before, I didn't have a private bathroom either. During one of my showers I flooded the welcome desk because their drains have problems and apparently someone should have told me not to shower in that specific bathroom...🤔
They never charge you. I was told this by somebody and was sceptical. Fast forward to my traumatic birth and a proposed week stay in with my newborn, I said I want a private room and I’ll pay. That was 4 and a half years ago, never been sent anything to pay Lol x
