Generally “the rule” is when they out grown the rear facing part of her seat then move her
I’m keeping my kiddos rear facing until they max out the seat. For our seats it’s 50lbs or 49 inches. My 2 yr old was 32lbs and 36inches. So he will probably be at least 4 yrs old if not old.
If rear facing for your seat is good until 40lbs that’s what I’d do. The longer they’re rear facing the better. My son is 3 weeks shy of 3yrs old and is still rear facing. It’s what’s safest for his size and he hasn’t maxed out for his seat rear facing yet.
40 pounds or 40 inches. My eight month old is 25 pounds and 30 inches comfortably in the same carseat rear facing.
@Amanda omg I thought my babies were the only big ones. Lol I read all these comments their older babies only x amount of lbs. and my littles are only 8 months and close to 20lbs. Our car seats say good till 30lbs so now I’m worried because real soon for us to change them to front facing.
@Alyssa sounds like you’re still using an infant seat. Plenty of convertible seats that will allow you to rear face still. Just because you outgrow the infant seat doesn’t mean you should forward face. It’s not just about weight and height it’s their development with age as well
My son was forward facing around 2… I can’t believe all these comments keeping their kids rear facing…his legs don’t fit rear facing and I feel that it’s much more dangerous to have his legs smushed.
@Katie I highly suggest watching crash test videos. I’ll happily have my son break a knee or hip over his neck any day of the week
@Katie it much safer for them to sit with there legs crossed than forward facing at 2 their body’s aren’t made for the stress that an accident will put on them forward facing

Honestly I’d keep her rear facing as long as possible
