These products often contain phosphorescent or luminescent materials, and if these materials are not properly regulated or if the pacifier is damaged, there could be a risk of ingesting harmful substances. Additionally, some people may be sensitive or allergic to certain materials used in the glow feature. Always choose products from reputable manufacturers, follow safety guidelines, and inspect the pacifier regularly for any signs of wear or damage to ensure the well-being of the child.
I asked chatgpt
I personally wouldn't use them.
@Bee yeah I’ve been unsure. Any reason why?
In truth I wouldn't use any plastic pacifier. There was a study by american chemical society and 100% of all plastici pacifiers contained BPA, BPS or BPF despite all being labeled as "BPA Free" most also contained triclosan and parabens. Secondly, when I used to be a Nanny I obseserved many pacifiers with scrapes from regular use meaning the luminescent material could be exposed. I personally would only buy a 100% natural rubber or food grade silicone pacifier and I would stay away from one's with added ingredients of any kind.
I'm in the "better safe than sorry" camp.
I'm unsure what would make them unsafe? Did you hear anything that gave you this concern? The part that glows isn't in their mouth 🤷🏾♀️ My son had some that glow and it was much easier to find them in the night time but it wasn't a necessity to have them. You can do regular if you're more comfortable with it 🖤
