Flip Baby

So, this is a weird thing, but…I saw this video that, if you flip a baby, then they will sleep better throughout the night. Sounded silly, but my husband really wanted to try it for laughs. We tried it and my baby (who usually wakes every 2-3 hours) had slept for 5hrs. I am the one who ruined it, though, as I decided to feed her anyway and then thought she pooped and she got a diaper change. BUT SHE DIDNT POOP AND ALL I DID WAS WAKE HER UP NEEDLESSLY! Anyway, flip your baby and see if it works! I didn’t think it would, but she hasn’t slept this long in ages…. Here is the video link: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8TcUmnk/

It depends how old baby is/whether they are rolling. Babies shouldn’t lay on their tummy’s unless they are able to roll themselves back otherwise there is an increased risk of them suffocating

@Kayleigh you…you didn’t watch the video…🤣

I can watch the vid but can load comments dor some reason - super keen to see what she said when someone asks how this scientifically works? Haha want to try!

@Kassia ooops no I didn’t. Willing to give that a try though 😂

@Kayleigh let me know if it works!

Didn’t work for us😭😭 we will try again though haha!

@Leah a lot of people in the comments say it worked! She said to do it an hour or so before bed time. Scientifically? I have no idea. I think she learned it from her mother or MIL. That’s why I thought it was just an old wive’s tale…but then my baby actually slept, so?????? Idk man. I want other people to try it too to see if it works for them! She said to only do it one time and wait a week

@Leah there isn’t a scientific proof and doctors actually say to not do it because if done vigorously it can harm baby. It’s more an old wives tale kind of thing

@Lucy oh man I wonder why it worked for my baby. She really enjoyed being flipped, though. 🤣🤣

Tbh i don't think this looks very safe. Her baby almost landed on their head. Babies aren't meant to sleep through the night. They still should wake up a bit, unless they are getting enough milk through the day. My eldest, slept from 11pm till 11am and i didn't do any tricks, i just fed her on demand (formula). My youngest, fed through the night, she was breastfed. All babies are different. Also there are growth spurts, leaps, teething, sleep regressions that will disturb babies sleep. If baby is gaining weight okay then its fine to let them sleep

Somebody at baby group mentioned this but I’m scared of trying it

I believe this has to do with vestibular stimulation which can affect sleep. I follow an account on Instagram that suggests this and other ways to help promote better sleep. She does say to only do this when baby can stabilize their own head well. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2o8g8ZsQHg/?igsh=MTBuemZ3OXhtN3p3NQ==

I started doing this with my baby once she seemed more robust.. I still am doing a variation at a year. Tends to make going to sleep less dramatic?
