@Rebecca Oh my god 🥲 I’ll have a look into that and the manufacturers testimonies, i’ll likely get the snuza hero just for that fact alone!
@Rebecca i’ve just seen another one too where the battery in the owlet either leaked or exploded onto someone’s baby’s foot and badly burnt them - think i’m proper put off them now thank you so much for making me aware bc i literally had no idea
We used the snuzza hero pro for months and our son wore it 24/7 after coming home from the hospital at 15 days old due to having constant seizures where he would stop breathing and go blue and floppy we were recommended it by our NHS hospital as it's an aponea monitor and will alarm when baby isn't breathing. He was on a hospital version of one during his stay and they said this was the best version for home use. It never false alarmed ever until the day the battery died and you can see the light blinking through all the layers a newborn needs. We are using it again when our daughter is born in may and would absolutely recommend it to anyone and everyone with a new baby it's small discreet doesn't fall off and will vibrate baby to get them breathing if they are holding their breath and then alarm if that doesn't work but it's set to do it at the intervals in which is considered the medical necessity for babies as some babies only breathe 4 times a minute when newborn so after 15 seconds it will vibrate
Their belly is no breathing is detected then 5 seconds later will alarm and keep vibrating to alert you you need to intervene. We really found we could sleep confidently and not in shifts when we had it on and when we had visitors or went out he would wear it so we weren't constantly checking his breathing every 2 seconds
@Raine yes I think that's what I was thinking of! So scary. It's put me off getting one too so leaning towards the Snuza Hero now.
We like the snuza hero, it is quite basic as just monitors breathing but I like that as otherwise you might get too much information and be even more worried! It gives us good peace of mind as the green light is very obvious 🙂
@YazmynJade what’s the hero pro? on the website i can only see the hero and the pico 2
@Raine they seem to have changed the name to heroMD now it was the pro when we had it but it's the same device new name x
@Raine just looked a bit further seems it's now officially classed as a medical device so they've dropped the pro and added the MD trademark
@YazmynJade ah i see, thank you! I’m thinking after looking at their website that i’ll maybe get their pico 2 actually as it looks to be a more developed version of the snuza hero! x
@Raine I just saw they had that I'm considering upgrading to it but the hero was incredible so I may just use that one again and save the money! Xx
@YazmynJade i just really like that it has the app and i can check that while we’re out and about cos for example when he’s in the pram and has a blanket i wont be able to see the blinking of the light on the snuza and atm im stopping every five minutes to make sure he’s still breathing, knowing i can check all the stuff like temp, respiratory rate, etc on the app without disturbing him is what’s selling it for me tbh because this poor boy has been accidentally woken so many times because i get so anxious and have to check 🥲 xx
@Raine it does seem like a really good idea! Also just to give a bit of peace of mind with the original one I'm sure it's the same in the Pico 2 one, but even when under a vest, onesie and sleep sack you can still see the light blinking away and I think we even added a blanket at one point on top of all that and you could still see it so the light on it's really bright under all their layers which really gave me the peace of mind at night I could roll over see it roll back and carry on sleeping xx
I never knew about the owlets exploding! We've been using it for 6 months and loved it, but now this has terrified me

I would really recommend the snuza hero! My baby used one at night and when I wanted to sleep! We thought it was great!
Can you use the snuza if baby is rolling?
@Georgia do you ever have problems with your owlet data getting a bad wifi connection 🤦🏽♀️
@Natalie Luna sometimes but I just close and re-open the app and that sorts it most of the time. If that doesn't work I turn it on and off at the wall lol but thats rare I have to do that x
Yeah mine slept on front with it/ side. Sometimes she’d knock it but a baby vest always helped keep it on belly if that makes sense so it’s knocked less x
I don't have either (thinking about getting one) but I know there's a problem with the Owlets randomly exploding. I saw a post on here from someone it happened to and I think the manufacturer said it had been happening to some of them.
