Probably just a baby monitor is good. But I never let baby out of my sight for first 3 to 4 months and would go in and check on my son every 20 mins or so when he was sleeping. Really did a lot of baby wearing and skin to skin also just to get some relaxing time in. But here is what the Mayo Clinic said about these devices..... https://communityhealth.mayoclinic.org/featured-stories/sids-baby-monitors#:~:text=What's%20the%20truth%3F,cure%2C%20prevent%20or%20treat%20disease.
The owlet saved my sanity. We didn’t register for it because we heard all the same comments about not needing it, but I was so anxious about sids that I literally slept with my glasses on and woke up consistently in a panic to check that my son was all right. And he was in a bassinet right next to me. Knowing that the owlet would start shrieking at me if something went wrong while I was sleeping helped me to actually get necessary sleep.
Yeah I got the Eufy Monitor, according to my Dr it does the same thing as the owlet, the big difference is one being FDA approved and the other not, so I opted for the cheaper one since it did the same thing
So I'm a ftm but when I spoke to my sister about getting one, she said it's not really worth it in general and likely to make you more obsessive/worried about your baby having problems, unless youre expecting complications and/or your child has health issues. It's all up to you thought and if you're okay with spending all that money for peace of mind. They're just so expensive 😭
