There is a group in FB that lead me in the right direction when I attempted
I think this was it https://www.facebook.com/groups/AdoptiveBreastfeeding/?ref=share
Ultimately, after pumping, for weeks, I stopped when our baby came as it was going to add so much work as was going to have to have to still supplement. I didn't want to take hormones (never took birth control and didn't want that in my system), so I wasn't going to be able to produce enough.
I did! 35 at the time, had a hysterectomy, and was low progesterone. Took hormones to have my progesterone raised. Took reglan since the ideal drug is not available in the US. Pumped throughout the day and ate all the lactation supplements I could. Moringa worked best for me. Sadly all that work and was not able to latch due to a tongue tie and lip tie. I couldn’t pump enough to keep up with him. But I’m still happy I tried
Have you reached out to adult adoptee and birth mothers about this? I know you have the best intentions but that may be able to help you decide. A lot of parents who produce extra milk give it away for those who need it. If you’re looking for that extra bond with your child there’s a lot of other options to do.
