Hey, had my elective c section at Basildon in July 2022… had a super positive experience and we were back home within 24 hours. Only thing I would say is that, like all of the nhs, the staff are super busy and you may need to request things and ask questions rather than expecting them to come to you! I had to keep on top of pain relief myself and make sure I requested my next dose etc Happy to answer anything specific you would like to know, but I’m opting for another elective at Basildon in May so hopefully that reassures you 😊
I have an elected booked for this week at Basildon Hospital so also interested to hear feedback x

Hi didn’t have mine at basildon but had an elective CS in UK and just wanted to say it was the best decision I ever made. If it’s what you want 100% go for it. I think the procedure is similar everywhere so let me know If you have any questions x
@lucy thank you ever so much for your response. Genuinely feel happy and positive to hear it. Very kind of you to share your thoughts!! Yes I shall inbox you
I will just say on the post for anyone else. My experience of the maternity ward was hit and miss in relation to staff. The staff throughout the C section were all amazing, supportive and encouraging. Recovery is slow for me atm but everyone is different xx
Hi hun, I had a section in 2022 at Basildon hospital. It was elective due to baby’s size at 38 weeks. I had a bit of a wait due to emergencies taking priority and a 4 day stay due to a high heart rate after but otherwise the actual procedure was was really calm. One of the theatre nurses chatted to me to distract while I had my spinal block and I was able to have skin to skin with bubs as soon as checks were done. Although the pain was awful after my actual incision healed amazingly, you can barely see my scar now, I don’t know if that’s down to genes or the consultant I had, I’m having another one this Thursday coming at Basildon x
