38 week midwife appointment

So I had my midwife appointment on Thursday 38+3 I’ve always had a ‘low risk’ pregnancy and it wasn’t mentioned to be otherwise when I was seen on Thursday but I’ve just seen this on my notes so now I’m panicking 🤯 also does anyone know what the whole t+7 thing means she did say she would book me an appointment for 40 weeks to have a sweep

I think IOL means induction of labour and t+7 means term plus 7, so 41 weeks

They wrote the same thing on my notes without discussing with me either. I don't want to be induced though and will decline when they mention it next week. I'm 39 weeks now

@Blaithín it makes sense now 😅 she did discuss about inducing me at 41 weeks which I’m hoping she’s here by then tbh I’m 39 weeks on Monday I just more so panicked that she’s put pregnancy is high risk but never mentioned anything about it being high risk and I’ve been low risk all this time x

Yeah that's definitely weird if it said low risk the whole time until now, but I wouldn't worry about it :) you can ask them about it next appointment! ❤️

Yeah it’s what @Blaithín has said. The new guidelines are to book you in for induction at term +7, so 41w. Useful to remember your dates are only estimates and babies arrive when they’re ready💛 (42w for me last time!) You are completely within your right to decline this and I think it’s awful they have a policy to just book you in without talking through risks etc! Xx

It’s normal/low risk to be offered an induction at term + 7. Only reason you’re considered high risk (consultant led) is because you might be on the serial scan pathway with being a smoker, but your pregnancy can still be considered low risk as long as baby’s growth has been normal throughout :)
