Hello beautiful mommas! Need a little help here please.

First time mom here and my bub has just turned 1 last week. He currently goes to bed around 7 pm and wakes up for a feed ( formula bottle) at 11 pm. Then goes back to sleep and wakes up every 3 hours for feed until he finally wakes up at 6.00 am. I don’t know how do I wean him off this night feeding. He cries bloody murder if not given milk at night. I am worried that this might ruin his teeth. Also… he doesn’t want to drink milk from a sippy cup. He uses sippy cup for all other drinks except milk. Please advice- what do I do? Thanks in advance sisters ❤️

How much does bub drink per feed? What helped our baby sleep through the night was when we increased her milk volume during the day/before sleep. Supposedly this helps with sleeping through the night cause they’re full and don’t feel hungry/need to wake up for a mid night feed x

@Kirsten He drinks around 180 ml every feed.

We were in the same boat with my LO. I slowly transitioned him from formula onto cows milk first and then slowly reduced the amount every week or so. He was having 200ml of a bottle, 1 at bedtime and 2-3 during the night. He is 13 mnths and is now having 150ml before bedtime and one in the middle of the night, he has 3x meals a day plus snacks during the day and heaps of water.

@Paige Good idea Paige. I will introduce cows milk to him from tonight. Is it cows milk that you are giving to your LO at nighttime now? Mine loves his meals and snacks- but gives me trouble with water. Doesn’t drink enough I believe.

@Suchita C Yeah cows milk at night. Only water in a straw cup and food during the day.

Hi, hopefully this helps. But I offer lots of food to my baby before he goes to bed (almost mimicking cluster feeding). Of course he will not eat more than what he needs because it’s not forced or anything but means he goes to sleep on a full belly. What this looks like is: 4pm snack, 5pm milk, 5:30pm dinner time, and then 7pm big milk feed. Then if he wakes in the night anytime after like 5am I know he’s thirsty again but before that it’s normally a comfort thing in our case. When baby cries a lot we try to get very creative with how we settle him, with ours he’s normally not hungry and will go to sleep again if we try hard enough. I really feel for you, that’s a lot of hard work in the night.
