@Dreia Can I have a tablet inserted up there.. rather than drink the drink? x
Drink prune juice and take stool softener
Completely normal and the only way I could do it is by taking tablets. The tablets did not make me sick, I am pretty sure if you call the Gp can recommend some. Be gentle to yourself 😘😘
I took the tablets at the hospital because the nurse recommended them. I don’t even remember my first first BM post c section, so it was pretty uneventful for me
I don't remember having any issues with first BM. Never took any stool softeners or anything, just went like normal and it was fine. It's different for everyone!
I took stool softener because I don’t like laxatives and it still took a few days but we got there eventually, still not super regular but getting back to normal slowly!
I do fruit smoothies with organic flaxseed. It has helped me better than any stool softener or laxative.
Laxatives! The hospital gave me 3 sachets before I left.
I had lactulose both times and it helped. When I stopped taking it because I thought everything was ok, I struggled because it was painful so had to start taking them again. Ask your doctor if there are other options other than the drink, I’m sure there are
They gave me docusate
I didn’t go for like 5 days
It may take a few days that is totally normal. I went at least a week tbh. Miralax is great. It taste like nothing. Also it's not hard on you in my experience just makes it a lot easier to pass things along. I drank it twice a day after I realized I wasn't going and it made things work again
Completely normal, that first postpartum poop is, for a lot of women, described as worse than childbirth 😂 and its NEVER talked about 😭 Took me about 6-7 days to poop even with suppositories, laxatives, upping fruit and water intake and prescription stool softeners from the hospital. 🥲 when it did happen it was like giving birth to a large pinecone of a plug, I swear I was going to rip something down there when it finally came out. Definitely cried on the toilet more than I’d like to admit.
I took laxatives and still had the worst 1st bowel movement ever. It was so bad. To be fair I was on every drug they could give me in the hospital. I did take OxyContin for probably 7 days. My neighbor brought me this loose leaf laxative tea called Swiss Kriss. She said her daughters loved it so I took it and it was AMAZING. It helped everything go a lot smoother no pun intended😆

Eat a bunch of haribo Gummy bears. Sounds weird but it works. I had a section and didn't have a bowel movement for almost 2 weeks. Then I read that haribos apparently give some ppl the runs so I figured why not try it. I. Glad I did. They were delicious and when I finally went, it didn't hurt at all. I just felt a little sore on my scar, but that was happening regardless. Goodluck🤎
Try lactulose, it’s a stool softener. You don’t want to be trying to push out a hard poo.
If it’s the drinks that are an issue I believe you can get fybogel in a chewable tablet now. Make sure you’re drinking plenty. Fruit juices will help along with foods that are natural laxatives such as grapes. Sugar free sweet when eating in larger quantities also have a laxative effect
Mine was absolutely fine, I just made sure I sat for a a while and not forced it. I used a box to put my feet onto apparently having your feet up helps & then just had my phone for a game or reading. It didn’t hurt me at all & I didn’t take laxatives either x
Soaked Chia seeds in water or milk Or just add them to smoothies!! Helped with my pregnancy constipation
They gave me lax-a-day in hospital (powder) and worked great and didn't cause me to run to the bathroom either. It was a slow process of it working and had to use for a few days after my csection. Didn't hurt at all for first or afterwards but came in smaller amounts rather then all at once. I was also backed up since labour started on a Thursday and didn't have my first movement till almost a week later.
I took one or two shots of lactulose which is more of stool softener than a laxative + bland hospital food such veg soup and steamed fish + smoothies and fruit made me have a fairly easy first poo. There is a little bit of straining and the very first might be pebbly but it gets better as you go again. xx
I was given peppermint oil capsules and a shot of laxatives. It worked gently about 8 hours later. This was on day 3 of my hospital stay.
Update: I ate cereal!! Fibre!! And I opened my bowels, all fine, it wasn’t painful at all, thanks everyone x
Totally normal and also mine didn't hurt or anything
I didnt take anything it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be after reading everyones storys i was 4/5 days pp
Sometimes I find breathing (hypnobirthing breaths) help when going for a poo haha. I just breath it out 😂
Oh and potentially try raising your legs whilst on the toilet, by using a stool or something. It’s something to do with the angle which helps it come out x
It took me forever after my last one. I took stool softener, not laxative. And I wasn’t eating very well so maybe that will help you 🫶🏻
I struggled to go after mine. It took 3 days. I took anything they were giving me. I found if I drank orange juice it helped me go. I felt so much better after c

You want a stool softener and to relax not push. Mine wasn't too bad when I did it this way.
I couldn’t take it any more and chugged a glass of kefir with a heaped spoon of flax seeds and some magnesium citrate.
@Dreia oh shit yeah 😂😂😂 well it doesn’t have to be a high stool but apparently it’s good for opening the poop shoot 🤷🏻♀️😂
Totally normal, took me a whole 7 days to poo & when I did felt 20 stone lighter lol x
@Dreia I haven’t given birth yet 😂😂 I apologise, im completely useless! Perhaps my initial suggestion of breathing the poo out will be of some use 🤣
I'm glad you had a movement and it all went okay. If you ever struggle, take a laxative and hold a pillow/rolled up towel over your incision as it can help "hold you in" or stop you feeling so pulled and strained.
Omg my first 💩 after was the worst pain ever and way worse than the surgery and everything else, I nearly fainted..it still really hurts and I'm 3 weeks post op, I used the laxatives etc..think I just had a really bad reaction to the anesthesia and then the pain killers..made me cry 🤣🤣😅
I ate prunes which are not the greatest tasting but they work along with bran flakes and plenty of fruit and water. I was also advised to take a stool softener called laxido which is not a laxative, and this helped lots! Hope you feel better soon 🤍 as I know when I couldn't go to the toilet properly it was getting me down.
Just in case you're breastfeeding it's not advised to take a laxative.
I’m scheduled for mine in 8 days so idk if this will work but I read peppermint tea is a huge help.. I packed a box of it in my hospital bag
