Bleeding at 16 weeks
Hi everyone wondered if anyone can share their experiences with me. I’m currently abroad on holiday and since arriving on Tuesday I’ve had two bleeds. Started with just some brown discharge the first day then both Friday and Saturday evenings I bled, but the first night was only when wiping and last night a little more but still nothing like a period. I went to the hospital on the first night and they diagnosed placenta previa and said to rest as much as I can and they said the baby was fine. Just more worried I think because I’m away and not due to fly home until Friday. Does anyone know how much blood is too much? And where is the blood coming from, is it the placenta itself?

Hi! Sounds similar to me last week with brown discharge (old blood). I was aware that I had placenta prévia but it can change position and they re measure you at 32 weeks bc often it can change position. It also turns out I had a yeast infection which could be cause for brown discharge. If you’re having a lot more than normal or any burning / itching it’s worth them doing a culture to rule out any infection which could also cause the bleeding

So I’ve also got placenta previa. I first came to the hospital at 23 weeks with brown blood, they weren’t overly concerned about the brown blood. Since then I’ve been admitted to the hospital after 3 bright red bleeds. They told me, if it’s red, hospital attention is needed, even when wiping. Brown is fine because it’s old blood x
