Starting daycare soon?

Let's talk about figuring out naps at daycare! ✨ All of my littles are in daycare, so this is an issue near and dear to my heart (and my mama stress levels lol). Oftentimes daycares will only put baby down for one nap each day. While this is fine for older babies, many babies starting daycare south of the border are on more than two naps. This is how you can help the nap process to be easier for everyone: 🧸 Connect with the daycare about nap expectations - how does naptime work at daycare? What time is the nap at daycare, or do they follow your schedule? What does the nap environment look like (blacked out, white noise, cribs or cots, etc)? 🧸 Time your baby's nap to daycare nap time before daycare starts - this will make sleep so much easier, regardless of it's a daycare day or not. You can always squeeze in a small catnap or pull bedtime earlier for a season if your little one needs more sleep. 🧸 Send their special stuffie/lovie along if baby is over 1 year - having an attachment object that is associated with sleep will help to cue sleep and keep your baby feeling calm. 🧸 Ensure that your little one is feeling confident in their sleep skills - do they know how to fall asleep without help? Are they able to transition sleep cycles without waking up? And remember - learning to nap in a new space takes practice! Keep communication flowing with daycare about how the nap is going.
