Clomid for second baby

I conceived baby #1 through taking clomid, this was on the NHS. Lo is now 8 months and we want to try for baby #2 soon- can you get clomid on the NHS if you have a child? Does anyone know? I’m in Dorset CCG.

I’m not 100% sure as I’ve not been in that situation but from what I understand they’d want you to TTC naturally before intervening. I could be wrong but that’s what I’ve understood x

We’re currently going through this as we’ve been trying for over a year for the second. I’m on metformin for now and reviewing with gynae next appointment. They didn’t say no but could be as I’ve had other issues arise since our 1st. I don’t think they would without TTC for a period beforehand to be honest x

@Yazmin thanks for your reply. Did you have to go through all the testing etc before being referred again? X

So I was already under / constantly under gynae as I have PCOS, endo & adenomyois. Irregular bleeds and past cervical issues. I’ve now got abnormally thick womb lining and a blocked tube that happened between May 2022 (daughter’s birth) and October 2023 (next routine scan). I’m on metformin for to manage pcos symptoms but gynae have tested whether I ovulate or not ( I don’t). So hoping that means they’ll help a bit. We’ve saved to go private either way x

Yes we had a Letrazole baby first time and we’ve been in treatment for another 2 years for baby number 2. You have to go back through everything testing wise again x

Yes I’ve just got it and I’ve had one already xx

I was offered Clomid and told you can only take it for 6 months , if you conceive after 3 months that means you would have another 3 months left to use which should be on the NHS to my understanding.

@Kellie that is strange they offered me 12 months of Clomid x

@Francesca how odd! I didn’t take it I wanted to keep trying naturally but looking to go back to referral at the end of the year if I’ve had no luck but they told me they might look at putting me on Letrazole possibly which is new to me but having researched is very commonly used as well but how weird they definitely told me I would only be able to use clomid for 6 months

@Kellie letrazole I conceived my first son on after 1 dose at 2.5mg, unfortunately even up to 7.5mg this time it didn’t work that’s why I went onto Clomid x
