Toddlers who need/ have ear tubes

Hey ladies my son is 2 and we have recently been told he has fluid behind his eardrums and needs tubes. We were also told he doesn’t hear as clearly as he should due to the fluid . Has anyone’s toddler got tubes? Did it help? Does it change their behavior, etc? I know toddlers do throw tantrums etc and it’s normal but my first 3 never did but my 2 year old does he also gets constant ear infections just curious if anyone else’s toddler threw tantrums before tubes and how and if it changed them after? Also how were they coming out of anesthesia? I know they say it’s safe but still makes me super nervous. Tia btw 🩷

My 3 y/o stepson got tubes shortly after he turned three. He got ear infections nearly monthly prior to the procedure. My husband and I weren't there, but his (SS) mom told us that it was quick, and he was a bit moody that day with the anesthesia wearing off, but otherwise he was fine soon after. He has not had an ear infection since! He also has a speech delay (we think partially because of so much fluid in his ears), so his speech has improved a bit, and we feel like he understands what we're saying more, although the process has been very gradual.

Thank you ! My son throws tantrums so much and holds his ear at times so I dk if the tantrums are from his ears hurting or not. My son is the same every month antibiotics for his poor little ears it breaks my heart seeing him like this I’m curious to see if the tantrums stop after the tubes. I’m glad to know your step son overall was good after wards and no more ear infections yay!! Thank you for responding 🩷
