Has anyone ever gone through this?

My water broke without contractions. Went to the hospital immediately. They tested to make sure it was the amniotic fluid and admitted me. Went in at 8:30pm and had her 3pm the next day. They induced me with cytotec and pitocin.

@Brooke i went in at 11:30 in the morning and was given the choice of staying in the hospital or going home. I chose to go home and wait it out. So far, nothing. Just waiting. I don’t really want to get induced and rather wait for baby to come naturally.

@Jasmin When your water broke during sleep did it make a mess if you don't mind me asking 😅 I'm nervous and wondering if I should wear something while sleeping as I'm now past my due date and could go into labor anytime. Thank you! 😊

Try and relax, watch your favourite movie/tv show. Do your research regarding induction following waters breaking. This website has a great article. You need to scroll down to the section about the 24h clock. It’ll help you choose if and when you accept induction

https://evidencebasedbirth.com/evidence-inducing-labor-water-breaks-term/ TLDR: the 24h rule is super outdated and not evidence based in todays world

My waters broke in the night, I was having contractions but I didn't realise. When I got to hospital (I went in straight away) they were 2mins apart.

@Kristen mine didn't until I stood up, so just have some towels by the bed haha

My waters broke at 36wks with my son with no other signs of labour. I was made to stay at the hospital after being checked out and was put in an antibiotic drip. They were going to let me get to 37wks without inducing me. Lucky he came at 36wk 4 days so I didn’t have to be induced

@Alice Wilkins mu water didnt break at night, rather I had it manually broken during my induction but I was the same way. Had no idea I was having frequent contractions until it was really close to go time 😅

Go for a walk, stairs always worked for me. Or have an orgasm.. that could help too.

If your water breaks you should go to the hospital as the baby needs the amniotic fluid that’s leaking out. That’s what I did with my son, that’s what I was also advised.

My water broke in my sleep and I just woke up to a wet bed🤣 Didn't get any contractions till about 4 hours afterwards. They wanted me to go in to hospital to check my waters had broken, as I had to have tablets to stop infection xx

@Kristen it made a mess on my pants but not my bed! I was laying on my side so i think that helped. I recommend maybe placing one of those covers on your bed or a disposable underwear with a pad

@Alice Wilkins wow! Those are very close contractions. I didn’t begin feeling them until like 12 hours after my water breaking and they were like 6-10 minutes apart for only 30 seconds. I fell asleep through the night and didn’t feel a thing lol

My water started leaking at 3:45am September 7, after 36hrs of it leaking and not going past 4cm (even with consistent contractions) I had to be induced and had her at 9:58pm on September 8

@Kristen we put a waterproof bed cover under our sheets!

My waters broke 36+3 no labour ever started and I had c section 37 weeks

@Alice Wilkins thank you!!

@Jasmin Thanks for the info!!!

That happened with my 2nd and 45mins later I gave birth and really didn't feel the contractions that much

We put puppy pads on the bed under the sheet as due date got closer. 1st pregnancy my waters went, I just leaked a bit with each contraction. 2nd pregnancy I had the movie style pop and gush, felt most peculiar 🤔

My waters went at 4am with my second. I went straight in though as I was 36w, they wanted to give me antibiotics and monitor me overnight but I started contractions at 8-9am born at 1.40pm.

I was 36+4 when my water broke at 1am. I went back to sleep until 8am, and got to the hospital around 11am. I didn't feel contractions until after being on pitocin for a few hours. The pitocin contractions were brutal, but if they became unbearable, they turned the drip down. I had a very positive experience, but I didn't have any expectations and just went with the flow.

My first my water broke but labor didn’t progress on its own and I ended up getting induced with pitocin. Second pregnancy water broke and 8 hrs later he was born w/o interventions

@Jasmin I know I was so shocked when I got in and they hooked me up to check what was going on, said 2 minutes I was so confused haha

I am so confused, when water breaks don’t you have to have baby within 24 hours?

@Whitney not always. It was 42hrs from when my water broke to when I had my daughter

@Whitney no that’s really outdated now, but most hospitals still push to induce if labour hasn’t started within 24h

@Kristian Larger my water broke on a September 7th during the night and had my baby on September 8 early morning 😂 don’t remember all the numbers when it comes to time. Was also induced, but fully dilated but ended up having. Section due to feral distress
