Elective c sections

So my first was 11 days late and ended up having to go through a traumatic birth that ended in an emergency c section. After I found out that I wouldn’t be able to birth naturally. I was just wondering, as I’m going to go for an elective one with this baby. How many weeks do they normally say? As I’ve heard different things some have been early and been 37 weeks some have been 39 weeks. If it’s earlier (37 weeks) what things do they consider?

Unless there is a risk to you or baby it’s usually 39 weeks

Yes they told me around 39wks if there’s no issues. I was 38wks6days I think

I have my second already booked for 38+1 but that’s because my first baby came 10 days before her elective date of week 39. Plus this baby is smack between two bank holidays at Xmas and NYE so no chances taken

Thank you ladies x

I had placenta privia (low lying placenta) which was covering my cervix so I couldn’t give birth naturally. I had my c section at 37+3 as they couldn’t risk me going into natural labour. Usually if no risks you’ll go to 38-39 weeks as 37 weeks is classed as early term. This is my first baby so not had any experience with a traumatic labor/emergency c section, but I can say that my planned c-section was the best experience! So calm and relaxed, I could play my own music and the doctors and nurses were fantastic. and I think that aided in my recovery as I was so calm! (I’d go as far as to say I enjoyed it!)I would 100% choose an elective c-section for my next pregnancy! Good luck! Xx

@Emily most people that have had emergencies have said that even though they opted for an elective they found it soo chilled and was the best experience so I’m soo pleased that everything went okay with yours and how you had such a positive birth! 💗 Thank you so much!!xx
