Can a baby just “not be a kicker?”

I’m 26+1 and I don’t feel baby kick often, even with a posterior placenta. I’ve had to ring triage a few times to get checked and she has always been fine but the next day I’m just riddled with anxiety again when I can’t feel the kicks. Does anyone have this? (First baby)

It’s getting to the point where I’m embarrassed to ring even when I am there the nurses/midwives and Drs are sooo nice about it but I just can’t help but feel silly :( Every time I see her or hear a heartbeat I’m like right I’ll be okay the next time but then literally the day after I’m anxious all over again :(

My baby kicked all the time, and now he’s 3 months he’s super active and won’t quit kicking 🤣 My sister on the other hand barely felt movement and was worried, similar to you went to triage a lot but baby was fine.. he is a suppeeer chill baby .. I’m sure it’s fine as you have checked 🥰

Never feel embarrassed. They’d rather you were safe than sorry! Calling is never an issue (I’m a midwife myself). But it could be another week or so and baby might then establish a pattern. Equally maybe their pattern is just a quieter one but whatever is normal for you, is your normal.

My daughter barely ever kicked during the day. 🤷🏼‍♀️ There was, like, a two-hour stretch in the evenings when she was pretty much nonstop active, but while I was at work and such, all she ever did was hiccup. 😂 And all the little tricks (drinking/eating something sweet, lying on your side, etc.) never worked on her.

My baby was quiet and calm most of the days and I always panicked. Then she will start kicking again for a couple of days. She is been like that since I could feel her kicks. I been to triage only once at 38 weeks because she was too quiet, but everything was ok, every time. Now that she is here, she is the calmest baby ever. So I guess she was like that also in the womb. 😊

You can try to drink something sugary like a soda to see if your baby will kick! I don’t like soda but I used to eat like a cookie if I felt like I haven’t felt my baby kick in a couple of hours and would feel some type of relief feeling even one kick after that trick. But do not feel silly going to triage! Trust your instincts. It’s always better safe than sorry.

I feel slight relief reading these comments so thank you all. Maybe I just have a chill baby then. And hopefully she remains that way when she’s here 😅 How do I know the difference between a hiccup and a kick? I feel like I get the odd one kick throughout the day but because it’s only the one I then question it.

I also had a calm baby who didn't kick much in the womb ☺️ Some days she was super quiet. it worried me a lot but eventually I learned that was her normal. She's here now and like others said, she's just as chilled out of the womb

@Carla hiccups feel like hiccups! Small regular rhythmic movements By the way I should also mention that once I got to like 30 weeks my baby was big enough that her movements were more obvous and I was able to relax a lot more So hang in there !

@Frances maybe I haven’t experienced hiccups yet then as I’ve never questioned it something was a hiccup. I’m just going to try and accept I may have a quiet baby but if it’s too quiet I’ll ring triage. I was told 24 weeks, then 25 and now I’m 26 it’s like come on little one 😅 … Roll on 30 then 👀👏 x

ive been in triage sooo many times!!! i didnt start to feel my baby at all till i was 30 weeks! i have an anterior placenta im 31+3 and even now its not strong kicks im feeling more like flutters. never be embarrassed to ring triage whatsoever thats what they are there for!

Something I find works for me is speaking to my baby, might sound silly but I honestly feel he responds if I strike/poke/talk after not feeling him - I also play soft piano music frequently which I think he likes because he started moving as soon as he hears it - so If I don’t feel him, I play some music and lay down and stroke my belly and then he starts connecting with me. X
