Hyper fixation and control

Anybody else's child/children struggle with hyper focusing/trying to control things? My son's hyper fixation on things can be difficult for myself and him to handle, once he knows something is happening or wants something, he will continue to think about it and ask about it for days and struggle to focus on anything else, like playing and doing other things, he can get very upset about it etc. He loves robots and has so many, yesterday morning we watched a few episodes of Sarah and duck and there's an episode that he really likes because there's a wind up robot in it, he then really wanted one, I said no as he already has enough robots and plus the wind up ones can break easily, he couldn't except that response and has continued to ask for one since, constantly questioning it and talking about it etc. My partner (his dad) folded and ordered one about an hour ago and as you can guess our son is really excited about it and is talking about it loads but also frustrated that it's not arriving for a couple of days. (I was very close to doing the same tbh). I'm a little on the defence on it as I feel like the more we give in to his wants the more we are showing him that he can get everything he wants, he already struggles with change and things being out of his control. He's only 4 so we have years to help him with things and show him that unfortunately he can't get everything he wants/ can't control everything because that's not how the world works etc. I don't know what the point of this post was, guess I'm wondering if anyone else has these struggles too.

I can only say as somebody with autism I think that hyper fixations will happen but they are also a GREAT educational experience if you can make it. So maybe look up robots and how they work, maybe he might take interest in learning about them. I know so much random but sometimes useful knowledge on things just because I had a fixation on them like 3 years ago or something aha. You’re doing an amazing job by the sound of it and I know it can be frustrating xx
