Ethnicity question on mat forms

Hi. Just had the booking appointment for my second and experienced friction from the midwives about insisting on the correct ethnicity being listed for the mother on the documents. I'm mixed Aske-phardi and found it very odd that they basically wouldn't accept 'mixed-Jewish' despite Ashkenazi being more susceptible to certain genetic conditions - hence the need to have the ethnicity of the mother recorded accurately for the maternity notes. Has anyone else come up against this and did you find a work around? Any recommendations most welcome.

Sorry you had friction 😦 I just put Jewish and they asked about my origins and wrote it down. I was at uclh so maybe they're used to people being from all over (or maybe I just had a thoughtful midwife!)

Sorry to hear you had this experience. I'm at Royal London (not a high proportion of Jews these days). I'm 3/4 Ashkenazi and 1/4 Irish Catholic and didn't have any trouble. I don't think everyone outside of Judaism really knows/understands that there are different types of 'Jewish'...
