Breastfeeding

How often are you still breastfeeding your little ones ?? My daughter was 1 last week and I’m trying to cut it down to morning night and day time nap feed. But she is quite demanding to have more. She still wakes during the night wanting to be on the breast, and won’t settle until she has it. Or during day she cries and cries and won’t stop until she has boob. when I’m at work she goes 5 hours and doesn’t bother about it Just wondering how much everyone else is still feeding? I feel I’m doing it quite alot still! I have no real plan of when I’m stopping but was hoping it wouldn’t be quite as demanding now she’s older

Me too! To all of this! My boy has so much boob still. Especially at night it's constant sometimes! But he will take a bottle or just water when I'm away. He loves boob. It's a real comfort for him and I'm not ready to take that away from him just yet. I start working long days soon up to 13 hours a day and I imagine then that the boob stuff will perhaps lessen. Maybe not just yet. Who knows. Sometimes I feel like I shouldn't be feeding him this much breast still. But I don't think either of us are ready to stop!

@Carmen yes I’m a mum of 4 so it’s not so much I want to stop completely but I do feel bad I’m still feeding her lots as I’m trying to divide my time as much as possible! Good luck mama! 13 hours is a hard days work! I breastfed my other kids till they were 2, but not as frequently as this so nice to know I’m not alone 😂💕

During a "normal" day we're just one when he first wakes up, one for afternoon nap (if he's home, if he's at nursery it's one when we get back) then feed to sleep for bed. However if he's teething or like when he was a bit ff after his jabs then he's on and off all day! Through the night it's still every couple of hours.

Nursery days are one first thing then one at bedtime but add an extra one in the afternoon when there's no nursery. She has been sick this week and has been feeding constantly. God help my boobs when she suddenly goes back to a morning and evening feed again and I have a whole day of exploding boobs. She feeds every 2 hours at night still which is definitely not what I had planned!

I’ve dropped to just night feeds now, but I’m no longer producing enough so I’ll breastfeed both sides until he starts getting upset because he wants more, then I slightly heat a bottle of whole milk and he has about 8ounces at 7.30pm then 4ounces around 4/4.30am then once he’s up properly at 7am I take him downstairs and he has food all day and water xx

I am in the exact same boat! From everything I have read about it, it’s biologically normal which makes me feel better during the night when it is pretty much constant latching! 😴

I breastfed in the morning. We give cows milk after naps (this happens at nursery too). He has a bottle of expressed breastmilk at bedtime. I breastfeed when he wakes up at night - each night I tell myself to try and night wean him but he just cries until I put him on the boob so it's just so quick and easy to get him back to sleep by feeding. Not really sure how to stop. In addition during the day when I'm not at work he will point at my boob to indicate he wants a feed. I'm sure this is just for comfort so I don't have the heart to say no. I really didn't think I would still be breastfeeding at this point but don't really know when or how I'll stop.

I couldn't tell you really. It's definitely more than 3 in the day time and during the night. I just feed on demand. I can go out for the day and he's fine. I just see it as is his way of connecting with me if we've been apart.
