6 month old doesn't sleep

For the past week my 6.5 month old will not sleep. Can place him in his cot then 20 to 40 mins later he's crying and needs bounced back to sleep! The only way to settle him is taking him into bed and then I'm not sleeping well. Did anyone go through something like this? He used to just wake 1 or 2 times a night for feeds but now he's so restless
