I was vegan for 6 years and have never felt as good and healthy in my life. I cooked more, and had so much more energy. My sleep was better. My skin was thriving. I regressed during pregnancy but I’m hoping to get back to it soon :)

I have, for more than 3months, because I had rly big stomach pain. (Due to a strong medication in the past) -> results rlyyyyy bad, I ended with being so tired, worse stomach pain… it isn’t for me at all, My iron needs can’t be reach by vegan diet. (I read a lot about it, and followed a nutritionist + my bestie parents are vegan for years, so I had a great balance in my vegan diet but it wasn’t sufficient for me) What worked for my pain has been… No sugar no carbs 🫠 so hard I don’t know how I did it ! But I was so afraid to feel that pain again … Just to conclude, I really think this diet isn’t for everyone. Some deal really great with it and good for them ! But for others sometimes you have to accept that your body needs nutrients you can’t find away in the food form in a vegan diet ! I really think human isn’t made to eat everything for zero reasons

(ps : I clicked the wrong answer bc I misread it at the 1st place sorry 🫠

I was for a while. Vegetarian for 7 years, then on and off vegan to veggie for 2 years and then while pregnant I needed more protein and started eating fish. 4 years on still eating fish:) I try not to eat eggs and cheese still because of medical reasons

@Aggs I was mostly vegan (flexitarian) for about 6 months and then I regressed during pregnancy too!

I've been a vegetarian for almost 25 years now

@Lydia I was dairy-free for about 1.5 years and then cut meat WAY back and started feeling much better. I want to get back to that but pregnancy is making it difficult! Can I ask what your reaction to eggs is?

@Raqi what's your opinion on all the meat replacements these days? I like cooking with beans, lentils, etc as a meat replacement in recipes, but I'm not sold on the gluten meats or soy isolate meats yet.

I was gluten and dairy free for 6 months. I’m incredibly allergic to both, and felt a thousand times better and personally think I looked my best. It was terribly hard but I’d like to do it again lmao

I just get an incredibly bad stomach. Kind of like the same as when people have lactose intolerance? i had my gall bladder removed so my body doesn’t digest a lot of fats very well. In terms of fake meat tho i try to not eat it more than once a fortnight. I don’t count tofu or seitan as fake meat though as it’s not super processed. They’re just protein sources

I ate a vegan diet for 8 months and regressed on a first date to steakhouse with my now husband. I also felt and looked my best during that time.

i was pescatarian (ate fish/seafood but the rest of my diet was vegan! no diary etc) for a huge portion of my life and it was the best i ever felt in my life

My hair started to thin and lose its shine and elasticity but my body felt amazing.

I've been vegetarian for about 15 years, spent about 1 year vegan. But being low income and having kids has made veganism really tricky. We do still buy milk and butter alternatives, but we're on WIC, and they will substitute only so much. I feel loads better eating vegetarian and even better when I avoid all animal products.

I was vegetarian (90% vegan) for 6.5 years. I went out on a second date with my now husband and he ordered a steak for me. I told him I was vegetarian…. Steak came and I never looked back! My hair also got so healthy after eating meat again. I could never get enough protein when vegetarian. You have to have a big appetite to eat your protein requirement. The beyond meat and fake processed vegan meat is poison and I never ate any of that. For anyone on a vegetarian diet, my best advice is to make sure you get essential amino acid vitamins.

Yes, been vegan for over 8 years now. No intentions of ever going back.

I was vegetarian off and on for 10 years until about 6 months pregnant. I was unbearably tired, and craved meat.. I don't recommend during pregnancy or postpartum. I will venture back once I'm done nursing.

I've been vegan for 18 years!

@Asia same thing with me! My body felt good and sorry for tmi, my sex drive went through the roof when I was vegan. Unfortunately my hair kept breaking off and has refused to grow coupled with 2 kids back to back. I went back to eating meat 6 months into my 2nd pregnancy and my hair started growing again.

I REALLY wasn't into the meat replacements for a long time. I was a vegetarian because I didn't want to eat meat, I never had a taste for it, so I never really sought them out. But they've improved a lot over the years! I'll have the occasional fake meat product, but I don't usually go out my way for them

Yes for a few days but I love cheese too much 😂

Yes vegan for years and it gave me so many health issues. You can look into blood type and how it can affect your ideal diet. My ideal is 90% animal based carnivore, based on the many many many diets I’ve tried.

@Sapphire Fire Our hair needs the aminos!! I think I had a high sex drive too… never paid attention to that 😦 I have also lost 1/3 of the hair on my head after this pregnancy I tell myself it’s just hair but gd this shits annoying. Our hair will grow back one day lol 👩🏽‍🦲

I did veganuary in 2021 and stayed vegetation but found veganism too difficult

Vegetarian for 20 years, vegan for 6 years. Now I eat mostly vegan with eggs and chicken and fish. Was struggling without the protein but after 6 years of veganism I struggle with dairy now
