That’s what my midwife friend said too, they take it off the next day at her trust. I’m not sure where the blood has come from, could have been from underneath dried blood as there was quite a lot. Now I feel worried about having a dressing put back on! Did you just wear breathable knickers etc over it and loose clothing? @Jess x
I had the dressing off the day after surgery. I’ve not had any bleeding, the midwives advised me to shower every day so that it cleans with water and then gently pat dry with a towel. X
The advice is all so different isn’t it 🫠 I have a new dressing on it now, hoping it’s ok as it makes sense to let it breathe….
I also had my dressing off the day after surgery and was told it’s best to get the air to it. However due to overhang it doesn’t get any air to it 😂 I let water run over it in the shower and then dry with the hairdryer on cool. I did however nearly get an infection as a stitch was hanging out. I would try and get in at the GP tomorrow if you can and let them have a look at it. Or if you’re worried before tomorrow then call 111. The midwives kept saying to me that it looked fine but I ended up in the urgent treatment centre, needed my stitches pulling out and on antibiotics x
I had exactly the same thing happen to me! I went to maternity day unit & they applied steri strips to encourage it to close. Midwife is due to remove them Saturday I’m also nervous that it hasn’t had air too it 😩
I had my dressing off 1st day back at home. Midwife said it looked fine. That was 2 weeks ago. Now come to a few days ago I ended up getting the scar infected.. i have a big overhang which i think contributed to the infection. Currently on antibiotics
Got an infected scar and got sepsis. Luckily a midwife came to see me and sent me to triage otherwise I would have kept thinking the pain was normal. Just always get checked out
Thank you everyone for all the advice, makes me feel a lot better that I’m Not alone in it! @Georgia ahh let me know how it goes. Fingers crossed it’s closed over.
@Lauren In the hospital they would put down disposal sheets. Almost like a puppy pee pad. And a thick pad underneath so I didn’t have to wear pants. I copied this at home with my first but need to be a lot more mobile with my toddler this time around. So I’m just wearing my cotton maternity high waisted underwear. Hope this helps!
I had my dressing off the day after surgery. It’s supposed to heal better coming straight off and getting air to it. I don’t think it should be freshly bleeding unless they pulled something while taking the dressing off? I was told just to keep it clean and dry to avoid infection. Hope it gets better for you! X
