@Claire can I ask why you needed an HSG for IVF? X
My clinic has anyone pursuing IVF complete the SHG and HSG procedures to get a complete picture of your uterine cavity. In my case, I did have abnormalities, so the procedure caught adhesions that would have otherwise prevented implantation! Surgically fixed and had a successful transfer :)
@Claire thank you, I’ll be sure to ask about this. I did have a 3D ultrasound of everything which was normal, so not sure how that would compare. Thank you
Sure! I’m definitely no medical professional, but I think as long as they have a good picture of your uterus, that works great! I’m not super familiar with the 3D ultrasound, but it sounds like it has the same goal as an SHG procedure. From there, if the clinic has a good internal picture and blood work up, they should be able to create a protocol rather quickly!! What I wished I would have known was about the risks for ohss and how it is a better plan to anticipate a freeze all cycle and some greater guidance regarding injections. My clinic did put me on an immune protocol (prednisone, aspirin, lovenox, antihistamine) and I did acupuncture before and after my FET. Just some things to consider! Sorry if I’m overwhelming at all
Depends on the clinic, what all testing they like to have before establishing a protocol, and what kind of forms get signed. At my clinic, I did not sign anything until about a month and a half before my intended retrieval, at which point I signed the consents for storage, received info about meds, etc. Before my clinic proceeded with any protocol, they had a whole panel of bloodwork, and SHG, and an HSG procedure.
