Dilation

How quickly can you dilate enough to be considered in active labour if you’re at 0? Can you progress overnight or does it take days/weeks? I’m having frequent contractions but still at 0

It can happen pretty quickly! Just keep tracking the contractions so you know how long they are and how far in between they are. I stayed at 1cm for weeks and got induced but I know my mom jumped from 1cm to 8cm within a few hours

I went from 2 to 10 in 8 hours. Labored at home so when I got to the hospital I delivered 3 hours later

Have your waters broken? If not, they could be Braxton hicks. But I went from 1cm to giving birth in 4 hours, however my waters had broken and a was already 3 in 10 minutes when I was examined at 1cm. The midwife was expecting it the take my more like 12 hours+ though. If you waters haven’t broken and they are contractions I think you could be looking at days or weeks as they can come and go x

I went from 3 to fully dilated in 2 hours hun, it’s different for everyone xx

Took me about 16 hours to get to a 4 x

It can happen quickly, you just never know until it happens. I was 2cm and went to 10 within like 2hours

I went from 0 - 9 cm in 6h then my waters broke and I went to 10

Very different for everyone - it took me 36 hours to get to 4 cm. Waters hadn’t broken yet

I went 1 - 4 in under an hour and water broke in that hour too! Went to be checked as was having regular contractions lasting over 1 min they gave me Paracetamol and sent me home saying it would be a while. 20 mins to drive home water broke 5 mins later had meconium so was told to go straight back in and they checked again i was at 4!

No idea. We only really get checked for dilation here when you are already in labour, before then it’s irrelevant.

It took me 8 hours to get from 4cm to full dilation x

It took me 4 hours to get from 0-5 then around 30 minutes to get from 5-10 and pushing so everyone is really different x

Can happen very quickly with my daughter i had a sweep on the monday Tuesday morning i had contractions stayed at home must of been 3cm went to hospital told me i was 4cm was in labour only 2 hours it went so fast i can remember them taking me to the ward to give birth at 4cm next minute they check me said im 10cm an to push it went so fast all us are different it can happen quick or slow good luck 🤞 keep us updated an congrats xxx

I was 1cm to giving birth in an hour and 15 mins. 😮‍💨

After induction I went from 1cm to 5cm in 6 hours and from 5 to 10cm in 4 hours

First baby and fast labour. Went into hospital 5cm and I delivered my bit less than 1h 30m being at the hospital. Had my first contraction and waters broke at 3am and I gave birth 11:56am. Stayed at home as long as possible in the bath the only thing that helped my contractions.
